Christmas Decorations

Post by SLGray on December 3rd 2017, 10:57 pm

Decorate your forums for the holidays!

Dear members,

As the end of year festivities and the preparations that accompany them approach, Forumotion once again puts at your disposal a lot of decoration to decorate your forum, and let the Christmas fairytale knock on its door. Very Happy

Please note that not all scripts should be installed in the same place, please take a good look at the different paths that are provided, the subject can also take a long time to load, thank you for your patience.

Activation on all or part of the forum

Administration panel Modules Javascript codes management Create a new javascript

Decoration at the top of the forum

You are able to change the color, the position and the attachment of the following decorations, editing the scripts.
View customization items:

  • var color = "white" : allows you to change the color of the suspension and stars displayed. By default, the set is white, but you can specify the color of your choice (under its hexadecimal code or its name in English). Note that for some suspensions (whose image is white in the examples below), this color will also apply to the center image.

  • var direction = "left" by default, the suspension will be displayed in the top left corner of the forum. You can choose to display it on the right by indicating right instead of left

  • var attachment = "fixed" : by default, the suspension will follow the page's scrolling, i. e. it is fixed in the corner of the screen. If you want the suspension to remain only at the top of the forum, without following the scrolling, you can specify absolute instead of fixed.

Code:
var deco = "tree";
var color = "white";
var direction = "left";
var attachment = "fixed";

$(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/13823.js');
});
Code:
var deco = "christmastree";
var color = "white";
var direction = "left";
var attachment = "fixed";

$(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/13823.js');
});
Code:
var deco = "santa";
var color = "white";
var direction = "left";
var attachment = "fixed";

$(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/13823.js');
});
Code:
var deco = "gift";
var color = "white";
var direction = "left";
var attachment = "fixed";

$(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/13823.js');
});
Code:
var deco = "candy";
var color = "white";
var direction = "left";
var attachment = "fixed";

$(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/13823.js');
});
Code:
var deco = "snow";
var color = "white";
var direction = "left";
var attachment = "fixed";

$(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/13823.js');
});
Code:
var deco = "snowman";
var color = "white";
var direction = "left";
var attachment = "fixed";

$(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/13823.js');
});
Code:
var deco = "reindeer";
var color = "white";
var direction = "left";
var attachment = "fixed";

$(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/13823.js');
});

Garland at the top of the forum

Code:
$(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/14770.js');
});

Code:
var garland = 0; var height = 110; $(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/16517.js');
});

Code:
var garland = 1; var height = 110; $(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/16517.js');
});

Code:
var garland = 2; var height = 110; $(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/16517.js');
});

The height of the non-animated garlands can be modified by changing the value of the height variable expressed in pixels (by default, 110px).

Interactive suspensions at the top of the forum

Code:
$(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/15760.js');
});

It is possible to obtain the same effect with gold-only suspensions, using this script instead of the previous one:
Code:
var goldOnly = true; $(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/15760.js');
});

Rains of images on the forum

Code:
var snowsrc="https://sd-1.archive-host.com/membres/up/132720629421430912/FDF/Decoration/Noel/mistle11.png";

Disclaimer: Most of the decorations proposed in this subject are novelties developed in recent weeks, to replace the previous ones that worked in flash, technology that has become obsolete.Despite all the tests to which these decorations have been subjected, it is possible that you may encounter abnormal behaviors, and/or particular difficulties, which would require a correction on our part. Feel free to open a topic.
Compatibility note : You can insert several scripts of the decoration elements. You can also combine these elements with an image rainfall. Nevertheless, only one image rain script can be used at a time.

In addition, we also advise against using more than two decorations at the same time, as this could considerably increase the weight of your pages and their loading time.

Thanks for these decorations for our forums. They're all pretty cool Smile

The one I like the most is the effect of a snowing forum... Plus the codes aren't in flash anymore so our browsers don't automatically cancel them, and makes the view of the effects visible to everyone!

Good job and keep it up, guys :wouhou:

Nice. Can we have "DECORATION AT THE TOP OF THE FORUM" in both sides?
When I try to add two, only last one added shows up overriding the first one Sad

Hello,

I believe you can but you have to change the positioning of the decoration. One has to be to the Left and one to the Right.

I have changed it but it does not work. I believe, because same names for variables are used in both cases. So variable data is overrided.

Are you adding both codes into one JavaScript?

I tried both options - in different JS files and in the same as well.
I believe it is overrided as the JS are working at the same time and apply to all pages.

@Kami-sama have you tried adding them both in one Javascript? If yes, can you tell me if you used only the bottom part of the code once or not? (the part which loads the script)

I tried these two:

var color = "white";
var direction = "left";
var attachment = "fixed";

$(function() {
  $.getScript('https://script.forumactif.com/13823.js');
});

var deco = "candy";
var color = "white";
var direction = "left";
var attachment = "fixed";

$(function() {

});

Hey, I tried both. I used full forms. Take a look at code above. The only difference - I changed one direction to right.

@Kami-sama You're right, you can't add the same decoration twice on a page, because of the variable name. An alternative was proposed on the French forum, consisting of renaming variables in the script (rehosted), and inserting this:

Code:
var deco2 = "christmastree";
var color2 = "white";
var direction2 = "right";
var attachment2 = "absolute";

$(function() {
  $.getScript('https://www.badwholf.uk/rsc/js/moredeco.js');
});

Also, a note to others, the dangling ball decorations are actually overlapping the forum on some width browsers, so you can use code to fix it:

Code:

/*Christmas*/
.christmas-body , .northpole-body {
  z-index: -10!important;
}

Hi,

@Broomhilda

Replace your script with that one :

Code:
        var deco2 = "reindeer";
        var color2 = "white";
        var direction2 = "left";
        var attachment2 = "fixed";

        $(function() {

Hi Brandon,

Thank you for your reply. None of them are working. Just trying to add 1 in each new java script.

I've gone to modules, java script code management, enabled java script code management, made the new javascript and added the code in, saved and it doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated.

Well I haven't tested all of them, but I know for sure the the garlands and both snow effects work.

When you create the javascripts are you making sure to tick 'all pages' on where it should display? If none of these boxes are ticked it won't display.

Also I wouldn't put more then 1 or 2 effects on total as after that they kinda start over riding each other and don't work properly.

You should be able to use 1 or 2 of them fine though (but you cant use 2 of the same type, so you can't use 2 garlands at once, cant use 2 hanging effects at once, etc).

If they still don't work despite you putting only one or two on and have it set to all topics. Then may you create a new topic in scripts and coding problems section so we can assist you without cluttering this topic.

Alot of the old codes don't work anymore. The current ones were re done so they aren't flash. Your welcome to look through the old topics for it and see if it still works.
