Export Your Whole Forum!

Post by LS x Pure Envy on June 9th 2008, 3:46 am

First topic message reminder :

I know you can Export the Them and Pictures of your forum, but we should have an option to export the whole forum. Like if:

You screwed up the database somehow and nothing at all works.
Someone spammed the forum.
Someone hacked the forum.

It exports the members also so it is just like a system restore, even though we have that. This can be used for other purposes, also.

Pretty much this. Export CSS, pictures, and templates, yes. Everything, no.

The whole idea of the suggestion is stupid because we don't have access to the database.

To Darren's quote "if anything ever happens," what if you wanted to make a new forum? And you wanted all your members to transfer there with their post counts, topics, etc, intact?

This feature could be very useful. And then it could lower the count of all of Forumotion's unused forums (once a database is exported, the forum is deleted).

First, if you're going to have all the topics members, and forums, etc., why make a new one? You're basically just copying the one you already have. Plus, I don't think I'd want to be a member of a forum I didn't sign up for. Think of being a members of Joe's Book Reading Club one day and a member of Joe's Big Busty Women the next day. >.>

And who cares about Forumotion's unused forums? All they have to do is just prune them. It's not like they're taking up bandwidth.

Yes, of course yes, this is the only major thing missing. I would even pay a small fee to do be able to do this.
