URGENT! How Do I Make Someone a Moderator?

Post by justicegal on August 21st 2008, 11:42 pm

I need to make someone a moderator, but can't find out how to do this.

Can I also give them all the same responsibilities I have? As technically she is the expert on the forum subject and will spend more time on the forum than I will.

Thanks

You can either A) add her name to the moderator group, and make sure when you created your forums set the permissions properly, or

b) Search out that user name specifically and give her moderator status of whatever forums you want her to mod.

Thanks for your response, but you have not told me how!

Believe me I have clicked on everything I can think of within the admin area.

I clicked on her name and out of all the drop down boxes, there's nothing that says "Make this user a moderator".

It's an emergency now because I do not have time to police the forum.

Hello,

if it's urgent, I wonder why you haven't quickly browsed through the FAQ-list: Have a look at this tutorial that should answer your question in detail: [LINK] Wink

Thanks,

I did look at that tutorial previously and tried to follow along, but couldn't find 'Find a user or modify list order' anywhere.

But now I see I can do the rest of the tutorial without that particular bit.

That particular part of the tutorial just means that you have to find the user in the list of users and click on his username. Wink

Here's how to do it.

Go to homepage >> Groups (or usergroups, titles vary) >> moderators >> add user >> save and she should have moderator rights for all forums that moderators can actual moderate.
