Before I vote, I require further clarification on this. How will this "trial mod" thing work?

the forumotion staff pick a few people who have helped out on the forum quite alot, they PM the users and ask if they want to be trial mods. and then they are trial mods.

So you mean like Trainee Moderators? I don't think so. This is an official Support forum and needs to be professional. I don't think there is time to have trainee moderators. Besides, there are enough moderators already.

When the forum requires more staff, the possible candidates are talked about, then approached via PM if they accept the position or not.

I prefer the behind the scenes method of choosing a mod.
that way, the person is monitored and he doesn't know about it, so he can't act the part.
We can discuss a member without any consequence ... heh scamite, well you know what I'm talking about ... lol.
and when they get chosen its a bigger surprise.

I still have the entire MSN conversation I has with Caihlem when he offered me the position. It's saved on my computer. Razz

You wont' be moderated. Instead you will be monitored. And if the staff like what they see, they shall approach. But there is no telling if you are being monitored or not.

Well the forumotion staff are always looking for staff.
We mentally record members who are helpful. We separate those that just spam and wish that they will get to staff, and those that really help.

We always have an eye out for a new candidate in case fortune changes pace. Just like with Travis, it was a sudden happening that he had to leave... so we weren't in the dark, we had a shortlist of possible staff.

So we have a trainee system in the background, and everything you do is recorded, especially when you bend the rules

Well, there can always be a mod in disguise. Who knows, they might have been a trail for a long time. Razz

if i became a mod, you would hear me scream all the way from where you live lol. which is quite a long way. on the otherhand, Scamite would hear it quite loudly. as he from N.Z Razz i might even make a global earthquake lmao

hmm, ive always suspected a mod in disguise

maybe theres a hidden admin right near us. maybe out pets are moderators of forums that we dont even know about

back on the proper topic. i still think they should look into my Idea.

as mods said this isnt a good idea they already pick people to be moderators.
Getting trainee moderators just means they have to watch them train them etc which takes time so its best just to wait till the right members are here and chose them to be moderators

or you can not approch them and have mod/admin make an account that will be normal right.
then tgey could ask stuff a noob would ask and see how good they handle it. and also make new topics and see if the people your watching catches that it is post in wrong place you see?

i think that if it's someone that is very fluent, is experienced and has help out a lot?
then they should just ask if there is a mod position open and that they would be interested if needed.. dont get me wrong it's not a bad idea.
and it would be interesting to see how they do.

but also remember this is a support forum and some members would like to help and stress there opinions to help with what the can.

i mean i for one have bin doing forums like 10 years or longer. Therese a lot that i know. there's a lot that i dont. there are things that i agree with and things i dont. but i am the kind of person that if i see something that i can help with and solves a problem. then that helps the mods here so they can move on to another thing and helps the person as well.
and if it's something that might be wrong. then correct me and at least i tried and still may have learned a Lil something more.

keep in mind being a mod on a support forum or any forum in that matter is not just about what you may or may not know. a good mod is someone that is very active, nice to members, looks at things from all angles, makes sure the forum rules and tos are being followed, not neglecting there rank or permissions, works and gets along with other staff members, making members feel good, keeping members interested, but at the same time will put there foot down when needed and take no garbage from anyone.. and all this at the same time try to have an open mind and give members the benefit of the dought.
(YEA ALL THAT PLUS MORE) affraid LOL

being a mod can be stressful and a lot of work at times. it definitely takes a great deal and dedication. especially if you are a volunteer. it is not for everyone. and it's supposed to be fun.if your are not having fun /enjoying what your doing and find your self getting aggravated and nasty with members all the time. then being a mod would not be good when it looses it's fun.depending how big a forum is and how Manny members are there and active can play a big part on mod duties as well. some people think it would be cool to be a mod then find that it's a Lil more then what they expected.. but every good forum has good mods. and with out them.. lets just say the admins would have a lot bigger of a headache.. lol so god bless our mods. yeha.

so yes i thinks it's a good idea that you have. but there would have to some kind of trial foundation layed out on exactly what there duties would be. first i would say. make sure all rules and tos are being properly respected.and people skills people skills/ relations also very important. after all you want to encourage your members. keep it fun, exciting, interesting and new for them as much as possible..

so that's my opinion on mods and what it takes to be a good one.
now of course some things are a Lil diff here considering this is a support forum. making sure the rules are respected and trying to have a good relationship with members is always key in my eyes.. Smile but also just someone that listens and cares can be just as good as a mod then someone who may know a Lil more but dont seem to give a darn?

we can all come up for air now I don't want that lol!!! geek
