Move topics instead of locking them

Post by Guest on October 17th 2008, 3:19 pm

Taken from couldbe86 post: http://help.forumotion.com/general-discussions-f7/forumotion-and-its-future-t28502-30.htm#167718

Less locking of the posts for being in the wrong section and more moving to the right one would be a very good start.

So do you agree that posts should be moved instead of locked for being in the wrong section?

Kilsek, you were here last time I refused this suggestion no?

If a member gets the red carpet, he'll expect it a second time... and a third... and so on.
I'm not here to protect the egos of members and I'd rather avoid creating useless work for the staff.
The rules are pretty simple, so in my book it stays simple;
> You read the rules, your topic doesn't need locking
> You don't read the rules, your problem if the topic gets locked

I agree... I voted yes, but if it's for example in the wrong section IN THE SUPPORT PART, but there are too many members who post in the GD section >_<

I totally aggree, you have the option to move threads so you can organise your boards. I have seen some Moderators posting in a topic which is in the wrong forum and they post something like "Topic Locked" when it should really be moved to the correct forum. I vote yes obviously.

I like the forum the way it is.

If you move a post for one person then the rules will go to pot as everyone will be like "hey i don't need to actually use my brain I'll just post here because I'm in here and the staff will move it for me"

Lock them! Lock them all! Twisted Evil

I do think mods should move posts that need to be moved, instead of just locking them there, or delete them atleast. Shouldnt of posted it in the wrong section, your posts gets deleted. tough luck.
I dont think locking them is the right way to go. But, they where chosen to be mods in the first place. Shouldnt really question that.

If we move them, then authors will complain that they can't find it. If we lock it and explain why, then the author knows where it is, and they can re-post it in the correct forum.

If we were to use the shadow feature, it's still in the same forum, right?. Then what was the point in moving the thread to a completely different forum?
