Do you want a search engine that works on your forum?
Another suggestion for better search function
I know this has been mentioned before, but we really need to have the search function work properly on our forums. All words should be able to be searched in a phrase and bring up appropriate results. This is something that many members have complained about for as long as I've been here.
Please vote for this, I think it's one of the most important and basic things we need to have fixed.

Re: Another suggestion for better search function
*bumping up* There have been no responses to this topic since November. I know that this is a priority to many forumotion members. To the admins, and higher ups, just think on how this will save you all time and energy because if the search function/feature was better here, then you would have to spend less time answering/locking and redirecting posts to threads that have already been posted.
The search function/feature works just as bad here as it does on our forums. I really hope this will be fixed and soon, it's a top priority and basic feature of any forum regardless of the format.
Please, let's get something done about this.

Thanks everyone for voting "yes". I really think this is something that needs to be fixed and I am holding out hope that eventually forumotion will get around to implementing a better and accurate search engine in our forums.

Voted Yes .
But, I'm not really fond of the idea. We truley need to leave space for better updates, but there's no shame in voting yes

I would like to be able to
1. search within post content, not just topic title. If google search can do it, why can't forumotion?
2. Control the list of words that are ignored by the search (eg: on my forum I can't get any results for words like "Plus" or "One", even though I know these exist in topic titles
3. Control the minimum length of a search (eg: on my forums I would like to allow two character searches)
thanks in advance for your consideration of this.

Voted yes, although I love forumotion, the search function would have to be one of its greatest weaknesses.

Re: Another suggestion for better search function
Thanks everyone for the votes for "Yes" to a better and more functional search engine in our forums! It's truly paramount and not only would this benefit our own forums, but it would improve and ease the burdens on the support forum to have a decent search engine so that mods, admins, graphic designers etc, wouldn't have to answer as many of the same questions over and over again...because members can't find the appropriate answers to their questions here.

Re: Another suggestion for better search function
Thanks for the replies and votes everyone. I think a new and improved search engine for the forums would only benefit each one of us and the support forum.
Re: Another suggestion for better search function
I agree, forumotion is very basic of the search, and it is defo needed. - Default PHPBB3 search is much better.
Re: Another suggestion for better search function
This option would be very useful for us My vote is a big YES
