Compulsory to receive Newsletters

Post by ~Chris on December 19th 2008, 8:22 am

Hi all,

I have noticed that in the profile menu under preferences, there is an option that says 'Receive Newsletters'

I do not like the fact that because a member doesn't want to receive one newsletter from time to time, they do not have to. I am hereby suggesting that there should be an option that makes it compulsory to receive newsletters from administrators.

Thoughts?

Administrators can change that.
there is a option to change it in the admin panel, plus u can change individual users in their profile in the admin panel (sus it out under users & Groups)

Hence im voting No.

I'm not sure you're understanding what I'm suggesting.

I know that users can decide if they wish to receive newsletters or not, but what I am suggesting is to make it so that they can't edit it. So that they Have to receive them..

I understand what you mean, and user's settings are set to "yes" by defult...and be truthful, how many people edit that part of their profile?

I really have no idea.

But if they stumble upon it, they could well likely change it for whatever reason.

If it comes from the FOUNDING admin account, yes, I'd like it to be compulsory
If it comes from an additional Admin, No, I don't think it needs to be.

i vote no. Members should continue to have the option to opt out. Not many of them actually like receiving newsletters of any kind and will even report them to their email provider as spam.

I vote no, I don't care where you live or whatever, everyone should have the right to choose weather they want something or not. If a newsletter would annoy a person then they shouldn't have to get it. La fin.
