Tech cleanout?
(Techs) Suggestions accepted / refused
First topic message reminder :

Hello,
Id like to suggest that we have a member or staff or someone associated with the technician's or a technician him/her self come over here and clean out our "suggestions for your forums" section.
This would be of benefit because:
- New idea's for them to minuplate, which in turn would satisfy their users
- there would be less member's suggesting the exact same thing time and time again
- members would know what has been accepted / refused and would know what is "being thought about"
- There wouldn't be an intimidating 40+ pages of suggestion's
- I don't think this has been done before ( so it would be a unique idea )
- Member would actually appreciate this idea
Sincerely
Darren.

We have talked about this and a quote from Typlo
Typlo wrote:
I'll check what's planned for the next update, but it surely won't be in a near future as techs are working on a new project.
We always do a meeting anyway to discuss the updates and most wanted features, before the development.

Thank you for that MrMario, but it doesn't explain what the Technicians themselves or the company it's self calls "technically feasible"

I believe this is a good idea. Removing old threads makes room for new ones.

Added yes. Oh and file upload and skin changer I would say are the most popular, needed and most frequantly asked about suggestions!

Yes I agree. I don't think they do much either. This might make them a little more active or something else. Don't see why we couldn't.

Re: (Techs) Suggestions accepted / refused
Why would a tech come here and clean the mess? Any staff member having attributions in the area can just check if they are implemented or not. If they are already in use, mark them solved, if they are obsolete - garbage, if double - garbage. if they aren't useful or something better is suggested - closed and sent to archive. How many different useful suggestions can be made? It's only a forum, not a factory. Some are silly - why keep them?
Why I don't agree with the tech idea? the number of tech ppl is limited. Here you have 75 pages of topics = about 1 month of full time job to clean the mess for 1 mod. Maybe less if they don't read carefully each subject. Would you like a tech to spend a month here instead of solving the bugs and implementing the new ideas? I don't think so.

Re: (Techs) Suggestions accepted / refused
Thanks Russel
The suggestion is basically so a tech can come look at our suggestions, say "Yes" or "No" to them - then they can put the solved tag or trash it. Essentially suggesting what your saying
Ina, Great points, but I'm on the contrary.
How many suggestions do you see being Developed in English v every other language?
English: 0 Every other language: Many. Why?
Techs don't look at our suggestions, why? Too complex. Not simple enough - not like every other language - where it is put in the 'accepted idea' pile if more positive then negative votes at the end of 30-ish days. Here, there's o time limit. If there's more "no" votes - it's put in the "rejected" pile.
There's about 50-ish pages of double topics. it would take around 1 week of sorting out, trashing ect then from there, the tech(s) would further decide of the idea's.
7-14 business days I'd say, not 1 month.
I would much rather have 1 tech working on this, leaving the other 4 working on bugs & updates. Surely, this would delay any possible update, but no update as of late has been really what "users" wanted; If they actually payed attention to what we suggested (being the 2nd largest language, after French) then they would have more satisfied users -> giving them more money -> Giving them more staff -> Alleviating the stress on the current 5 or so devs.
If users knew what HAS been suggested and easily able to research it, it would not just reduce the amount of topics, but they would know that the techs DO know of it; just not if it's in development.
The techs are simply put "Develop it release it to the support forum staff for testing, and after 1 week, release it to everyone....THEN fix the bugs"
Basically, listen to the users

Darren1, bassicaly you say that the fixing of bugs is the top priority so you just reduce the suggestions to 0.
Look here:
https://help.forumotion.com/search?search_keywords=custom&search_where=f30
How many "custom BBcode" do you see? It's a simple search, not an advanced one. So please... we are the ones making the mess. And the penalty for users is to loose the votes from the double suggestions.
- well, they can always use the "search" option... I think we open new subjects when we have an idea, why won't we search first in order to see if it was already suggested? If users knew what HAS been suggested and easily able to research it

Re: (Techs) Suggestions accepted / refused
Ina, Great comment I will admit!
Yes, I do admit, and still agree, fixing bugs is top priority, and there are frequently times that they have a large scale of time to develop and test Suggestions, and where do they get the suggestions/features from?
From the users, US, you me, and everyone once in the suggestions section.
There's 3 techs that are readily available; 1 - stays on development of features, 1 on bugs and 1 on suggestions for example is a way to work things out, however all 3 work on the same thing together to get everything done on time and quickly.
Don't you think that we have enough topics in there suggesting basically the same thing?
All I'm simply requesting is to spend 1 week, or there abuts, and we can handle not getting an update for another 7 days, if we get suggestions we actually like. Bugs = priority, suggestions = 2nd priority.
users happy = more money to the company = more staff = more updates = happier staff = better updates = happier users repeat.
Thus being better for the company
But we want someone to come here and do it, even all 3 main techs would be epically cool, and even if they only say "we'll look into half" and theyb state what they are - we'll be right to get rid of the rest and start from 0 pages again, as opposed to the 70+pages now, which is confusing !

Re: (Techs) Suggestions accepted / refused
I voted yes,
Anyway, what I think would be "technically feasible" would be to add another staff member that can bridge the gap between the French/English communities and the actual developers, for the suggestions section.
Said person would help clean out the section and pass on some of the most wanted features to the dev team for further discussion on whether to develop the feature, or not.

Thanks Mario
So, just to check, if u can please Does this mean that the company is not interested in the English suggestions, as it currently seems to be?
Because the company sure as all seems to be taking in idea's of well, nearly every other language, with less suggestions then ours
