Why did you choose forumotion?

Post by Darren1 on February 7th 2009, 3:13 am

First topic message reminder :

Why did YOU Guest chose forumotion, over some other companies?

I myself, chose forumotion over other companies because of:
The simplicity of their admin panel,
Many friends recommendation (and I recommend forumotion now myself)
The amount of support offered here on the support forum, coinciding with the time it takes to receive support.

I actually found a popular forum from forumotion (I will not tell you the name of the forum). Then, later on, I felt like creating a gaming forum. So I found out forumotion is free and easy to create a forum too! So i guess that's why i chose forumotion!

I went with forum motion because it's so easy to work with and get around. Since changing from another forum company to FM my members have been happy and I like the way I'm able to set up the forum and add a chatbox and the it's mobile friendly. I couldn't say that for my past forum lol.

I looked at at least 15 different options before choosing Forumotion. I found it to have the features and security I needed while still being simple to setup and use.

it's so easy to start a forum here. Like literally 5 minutes and you are good to go. Beats setting up smf stuff and databases.

I choose forumotion because...
1) I have tried many different providers... some paid ,some free... this one just offers more.
2) You can customize your theme free of charge. Any one can do it. On other sites you have to choose a from preset themes that many other people use, and you don't really have maneuverability in customizing the themes unless you know mySQL , CSS and html ... well maybe not html but you gotta have the basics of mySQl to even reach the forum display options. correct me if I'm wrong.
3) ACP is easy and looks nice.
4) forumotion is a growing service provider.
5) Offers phpbb2... 3, punBB and now IPB.
6) Support... I'm not going to judge. If it weren't offered this site wouldn't exist.

any many more... but when i first started with forumotion... it was the pure simplicity of the forum and admin panel... back in the day when there wasn't any modifications for your forum... when only the forum counted... not additions to it.

Need I say more??

There are ads, unless you use credits to remove them

I was brought to Forumotion after having a Marvel RPG site on Proboards be constantly harassed through the mods. After trying to advertise they showed constant ire toward any form of RP. Since it became a headache having to re-write the rules that many times I deleted the site and moved on. -nods- A friend mentioned Forumotion and I tried it out. It's a great way to run a RP site.

I chose forumotion because it was very easy to find and I already saw a number of forums using the service, so i decided to use it. It's also more customizable than the forum creation sites I've used before.

@~Chris wrote:I experimented with quite alot of free forum hosts. And I can comfortably say, that ForuMotion came off the best, by a long way.

The thing that is the main standout for me, as Darren said, would have to be the simplicity of the administration panel.

The other thing would have to be, for one free forum host, you can choose of one of four themes for your forum. Phpbb2, Phpbb3, PunBB, & Invision.

There would be more things, but i'd be sitting here all day.
Exactly my reason why too..

I had looked around alot of forum hosting sites, this one had what i was looking for in a forum with a fine admin control panel, good looking layouts, fantastic way you can change either way on phpbb2,3 etc, not seen another forum you can go back to bb2 once you changed to bb3.

I've heard from Runawayhorses post located here: http://help.forumotion.com/t102644p30-what-makes-you-stay-with-forumotion#825320 (on the last page) that if you created a forum around 2008 that you didn't have ads or didn't have to pay for ad removal?

Just slightly curious...

I chose forumotion mostly becuse I visit another forumotion forum very often, and that forum was of very high quality. I also like the admin panel and the fact that it's free.

Re: Why did you choose forumotion?

Post by Yada on July 13th 2013, 11:07 pm

I started my fan forum on forumotion in 2008 and then I bought a domain and the webdesigner I hired decided to install a phpbb forum... it was so difficult to moderate it; I had to hire somebody everytime I wanted to change the skin of the forum or even debug it! had enough of it.. I also have a different forum on proboards.. the support is great there but the admin panel and the forum layouts aren't as good as they are on forumotion

So, all in all, I re-launched my Riley Keough Fan Forum hosted here because forumotion provides

- the best-looking free fansite skins!
- the easy to manage admin panel
- many forum options such as punbb, invision etc.
- HTML and CSS code help anytime wanted!

forumotion, please provide us more free skins! Thanks!
