Announcements that can't be posted on
Hey
I noticed that on our Forumotion forums, stickies and announcements are actually the exact same thing other than them having different prefixes. This seems silly to me, so I'm proposing that we make an announcements feature that nobody can post on. Staff can edit the announcement but It's a 1 post thing meaning that normal members can't come along and post on it.
And I know lots of you will come along and say "Why not just lock it" well that doesn't work really because the staff can still post on it.
Vbulletin uses this feature.

Can't you just tell staff not to post on a locked message?

He's saying a different thing. You say they can post in them, well tell them not to post in one. Make a thread in your mod forum (if you have one).

Re: Announcements that can't be posted on
Sorry I vote no:
1. Not that hard to tell your staff that they shouldn't post in it.
2. Doesn't take more than 5 seconds to lock the Topic.

Re: Announcements that can't be posted on
but your mods can still post in the section even if you lock it.
Re: Announcements that can't be posted on
Which is why everybody keeps saying to tell your mods not to post in it. Unless you have a team of like 50 mods, it's not hard, and even then...1 topic telling them not to should already do it.:)tayne:) wrote:but your mods can still post in the section even if you lock it.

I think not.
If you can't trust your staff to not be posting in threads you told them they can't, then they shouldn't be staff members at all due to the lack of trust and respect.
It's not hard to make an announcement in your staff forums (or whatever you use) asking your staff to refrain from posting in announcements and stickies.
