Solved Forums

Post by ParadiseKid on February 21st 2009, 3:05 am

I am suggesting that each Support Forum (Connection Problems, Script [Code] Problems, Administration Panel Problems, Manage the Appearance of your Forum, Other Problems, and Need of a Technician) has a forum in each of them for the solved topics.

Staff can move a topic when it is solved to this new forum. This would prevent pages of solved and locked topics amongst the unsolved topics. This would also prevent the unsolved problems from being forgotten about and lost in the maze of locked threads.

Basically, it's an archive of solved topics that's easy to access and easy to find the answers to problems.

What do you think?

wanna know what I think?

=> Love

This would be a great! thing to add, but maybe a little veration:
have a forum (under techs section) that has all this rather than a sub forum.

Either way, this is a GREAT suggestion.

id also recommend some users to help the staff move all the locked / solved threads.

=> Voting yes / thumleft

That would help support forum a lot.

Would help staff and users to know whats going on and what issues are being fixed.

AWESOME suggestion.

It would be great if instead of having a solved tag, each solved topic gets moved into a solved forum. That way we know where to go if we have a question but don't know if it has been answered or not.

=> Instant yes from me Wink

Thank you all for supporting this suggestion.

I just remembered that a solved forum could also be added to the Hitskin.com problems section too.

C'mon Caihlem.

It's a matter of creating no more than 7 maybe 8 forums. Then all you need to do (with the help of your staff and maybe some members) is move them to these new forums.

And it's hard to use the search function when it doesn't work properly, so an archive of solved topics will prove invaluable.

It could be, but having one in each of the support forums will make it easier to find the exact answer to your question.

For example. If you have a problem connecting to your forum, you don't want to be going through pages of topics that have nothing to do with connecting to your forum, do you?

Personally, no.

However, a noticed trend of new members: They DON'T use the search button, nor do they actually search the forum if their question's actually previously asked

Because it doesn't work.

Having archives will make it easier for these new members in terms of searching for answers. They won't get loads of nonsense that the search feature gives us when we search for something. They can go straight to the forum's archive that they think their answer will be in and find it.

I voted yes and i agree. But i dont think this will happen. There is not enough staff members already and giving them even more work is kinda ungrateful...

Jalokim - I like your thinking. Wink

Tarogasini - It's a suggestion to make this forum even better. And I don't think that each staff member that visits moving a few topics each day is being ungrateful. And if the workload does happen to be a bit much, simply recruit another couple of staff to help out.

Due to these "Solved" forums being locked forums, staff will not be required to lock each topic. All they need to do is move the topic into this new forum, where it cannot be edited further by members.

So it's not more work for staff in terms of locking and moving newly solved problems. Eliminate the entire locking step, and move it straight to the forum.

Ya know, I like your idea, but I don't think in regards to new members it would help that much. They will still jump on with the first question they have and not bother to look for anything, expecting someone else to figure out their problems...stating they know they are lazy etc. Rolling Eyes
I think it might be a helpful feature, even if it makes a little more work for staff

Maybe just renaming the section and then making a new Section for asking questions. So that you don't have to go though every single post. Will save a lot of time.

As good as it would be, it would be understandable to vote no from Caihlem's point of view, it would be a lot more work. I don't mind if this does not get installed, but have no problem if it does.

It can't be Caihlem. Caihlem hasn't logged in for a number of days, and it was at 100% support yesterday. Caihlem didn't vote no.
