Adding the signature automatically

Post by becca on April 11th 2007, 9:04 pm

We should make it so the members dont have to manually click "Always attach my signature" under preferences. Like if the member adds a signature, and doesnt click that under preferences, it wont show up. But is there a way that if the member adds a signature, it automatically shows up without them clicking that button? because most people dont do that and they make posts asking. is there anything we can do to make it automatic?

You have to make a poll !!!

I'll vote yes.
Cuz it's true and it would save time to mods in always answering the same question..

There is a reason that it is like this. If you have many members and they all have large sigs it can slow the site down. Especially if there is images in the sig.

But good idea though

Well people join the forum, and fill out their signature area.
(They do not check the box to enable it because they don't see it/can't find it/dont think there is one.)
The user posts, and does not see their signature.
So that member makes a post asking why, and/or sends me a PM.

Yes that is good. Show some of the people there you don't know your sigs probably. And if the character size of the signature is over 255 it would've been better.

This is good, but the option to not show the sig should still be available. But this really is good, because who makes a sig without planning to show it?

Sorry for bumping this old topic up but I think this should be a default because like some members said some new members are confused and don't know why there sig isn't showing up and at times I get confused until I remember Wink

^ I don't mind if people modify my work and include a line such as "modified by...", but at least have the courtesy to leave the original author's credits in place instead of trying to pass the whole work off as your own.

I'm not sure if you intended as much, but it appeared that way to me. My apologies for going off topic, I just find it irksome when someone disregards another's work. Regardless, it IS possible to auto-enable that option w/the linked script.

Like I can access your site. bwah! It was just a try and a quick edit and test, I changed the name so they wouldn't be ringing your doorbell. Anyway, I removed it. Ah whatever. I shouldn't be trying to help ppl no more. There's always something. I lost my appetite for it.
