User-Defined Default Usergroup

Post by Houka Ryuu on March 2nd 2009, 8:53 pm

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but if you have a number of usergroups and you belong to quite a few of them, especially if you are the moderator for the group, your username color will always become the color of the usergroup that is mentioned first in the Legend. I would like my forum to have the ability for a member to choose their Default Usergroup, if they belong to many usergroups, so that their username will show in the color of the usergroup that they choose.

Since there is that Usergroups link already featured in the forums, it shouldn't be too hard for the techs to make it so that the member can choose which of the usergroups he/she belongs to, as his/her Default Usergroup.

EDIT #1: I added in a further explanation from my second post.
@blang1 wrote:You can order the usergroups. If a member joins a higher usergroup, then his/her name will become the color of the highest usergroup.
I know that, but what I'm proposing is like this:
G1 = Red, G2 = Blue, G3 = Green, G4 = Violet

Member 1, the admin, belongs to G1, G2, G3, G4
Member 2 belongs to G2 and G3
Member 3 belongs to G1, G2 and G3
Member 4 belongs to G2, G3 and G4

If you order the groups in a specific way, either the color of G1, G2, G3, or G4 will show as your default username color. What I'm proposing is that even with ordering the groups in a specific way, Member 1 could be colored in G1, Member 2 could be colored in G2, Member 3 could be colored in G3, and Member 4 could be colored in G4 even though they all belong to G2 and G3; and G3 just happens to be first in the order of groups.

And the above can happen if Member 1 makes G1 his Default Usergroup, Member 2 makes G2 his Default Usergroup, Member 3 makes G3 his Default Usergroup, and Member 4 makes G4 his Default Usergroup.

EDIT #2: Changed the title.

You can order the usergroups. If a member joins a higher usergroup, then his/her name will become the color of the highest usergroup.

Confused When I first say this, i was like "YES YES YES YES YES YES YES (that was going off the name)

But, when i read your posts above, im no "umm umm umm whats the point? and so much more" and when I read your post explaining what you meant, I completely understand.

Useful-ness, yes
Having this, would mean that we would have to the Auto Group option, which is great, and having this, would top that off!

=>YES!!!

I have been away for some time. But my suggestion seems to not appeal to a lot of other users here. Sad

Anyways, I am bumping the thread and please vote for this feature to be added to our forums.

Thanks
