Our chatbox is being incredibly slow
There are gaps of around 10 seconds between when a message is sent and when it is displayed in the chatbox. The same applies for commands and logging in/out. It is affecting all users.
I seem to remember similar issue from about 4 years ago when I was a staff member of another forum, but I can't remember how it was eventually fixed. Any help is welcome.
Thanks.

Do you clear the Chatbox often?
I've found that even when the chatbox has been inactive for a while, the archive can slow the chatbox down. I clear my forums chatbox fairly often, at least once a day.

Hello,
Try clearing cache as it may be a browser problem:

Also, try other browsers such as Google Chrome and Firefox

Re: Our chatbox is being incredibly slow
In my experience of using the chatbox, I've had the same problem. As soon as about ten people would be logged in, the lag would get very high. Chat rooms tend to be very server intensive, so it's not very surprising. Either way, it's not just your forum that's having that issue. It's a forumotion thing.
Beyond clearing the browser cache and clearing the archives, not very much can be done about that. It's a big part of the reason I decided to use Ajax chat on a separate server instead, which, if you can afford a few dollars a month for the hosting, usually works fairly well. Otherwise, try clearing the archives periodically.
