The answer by a global moderator here to a question asked last week clearly states that you simply have to pay to get them removed. No mention of an error or anyting. http://help.forumotion.com/other-problems-f46/ad-removal-t80770.htm

This morning the option for : Guests , Members and All where there but in the last hour they removed/changed it to "All and Guest/Members so ther is no choice anymore so we will live with the ads and we will not Pay nor buy credits. If this was announched this was coming we had no problems with it but since they are forcing us to buy credits for removal of the ads as only option.

Yes we have some new settings but the ads do not show up anymore when I'm logged in since I changed the new settings from all to guests and members. strange. Don't know for how long that will be the case.

Ughh, we went through this battle a year ago, a royal pain in the rear end. This is stupid as this was why a lot of people chose FM and it almost cost them a bunch of users last year. But I remember the arguments all too well, the if you're not paying, FM doesn't care about you.

It is nice to see that they informed Admin of forums via the admin panel before they made this change. Oh wait, they didn't. Thanks once again forumotion.

EDIT: If we have to have them, can we at least choose where they go?

I have this problem too. I previously had an option where I could hide Ads from members and only have them visible to guests.

We don't seem to have any straight answers on here from Admin. We are told we must now pay. How much?!

Why weren't we told of these changes before they happened?

This is a major problem and I am very unhappy about it. I have no problem with Ads appearing to guests but I am not happy about being used in this way to make money for forumotion! I am NOT a free advertising vehicle for anybody!!

Pfft. What is the diffrence between All and Members/Guests?
If you're gonna screw us over then don't fool us with this ridiculous option.

And why in this thread we're told it is a bug not a deliberate thing? And this sort of thing would have a negative feedback no matter what so you could have been polite and tell us first.

And I agree with being able to move the ad and if possible then the content of it as I already said I don't want inappropriate stuff being on my forum cause it's for underage kids.

Switching the option to Members and guests has solved the problem for me too. No more adverts!!

Totally illogical but the main thing is the Ads have gone Smile

I have had the same problem, however I think it's solved now as I checked my configuration and it now says for "All" and for "Guests and members" only

This only solves it for me and my admin, yes, I could make every member an admin person, but I really don't want to mess around doing that, I'm just waiting for my members to start complaining about the ads they are forced to see.

Oh boy!
Slightly worried, but if we must have them, can we at least chose where to have them show up? I'd rather they were at the bottom of the index page, IMO.
Also, the amount you have to pay, for 10 euro's, should make it so you dont have to show add's ever again. I'd pay that, but I wont want to pay 10 euro's just to stop ads for 12 months, then have to pay again. It's almost criminal.

Either a no adds forever price has to be added, OR the prices have to drop for the existing monthly costs. if you think about it, given the sheer amont of people who use FM, 10 euros as a once off still gives a hell of a lot of money, and you will encourage more people to use FM in the process. So your user base grows, as does your money recieved.

Who agrees??

That was my first reaction but change to members and guests and ads might disappear they have on my forum.

They will still show for your members though and if you have a slim layout like i do then it stretches it and changes all the bits you have changed and for some reason i am getting two instead of one ad that overlap the announcements box. as the admin i have no ads tho Very Happy

I'd rather the admins and mods see the ads than my members cause I run the forum for members not myself.

And I'm the founder of the forum and chaning the thing to guests/members didn't hide anything for me.

edti: can we use the forum's activity points to get rid of ads or do we actually have to pay?

I switched the Ads display option to' Members and guests' has solved the problem for me on both of my forums. Doesn't make sense but it's gone.

I think for a year removal of ads for registered members is $11.90 (US) and twice that for everyone.

Dear user,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused, the ads are here to support our developers and the staff so we can offer you new features.

This is only a test for the moment. Wink

I will give Forumotion some time to remedy this but if they do not give us the option to remove ads for members without paying then I will move my forums elsewhere. I understand that Forumotion needs to make some money and that is why I don't mind appropriate ads showing for guests, however a couple of people have complained to me about seeing pornographic ads on my forums and now my members are being forced to see ads too???

I must of missed the announcement about these test advertisements, Also can't say I'd be impressed to have these type of ads permanently on my forum.

When will the test be over? Why are there so many troubles on here lately? One week my forum is in totally different language that none of my members understand and the next it's infested with inappropraite ads for kids. Seriously?

What exactly is going on then? I've read of three excuses: 1) A bug, 2) FM needs money so they put ads on every forum for everyone to see, 3) A test

This is unacceptable. If FM needs money "to provide new and exciting features" then why don't they charge money for the new features instead of suddenly flooding everyone's forums with unwanted ads? And if this is a test, it better be considered failed.

Well, that's still not good news cause if it is a test "for the moment" then I think what Typlo meant to say was that the ads will eventually stay or that the people in charge are considering them premanently.

I have over thousand members (started in January) and numbers are growing soo fast I stoped counting.
But my most active members said today these ads are too disdurbing, they don't feel like coming back.

I can't afford loosing any members, especially best ones!

Also there have been too many problems with forumotion, soo I'm forced to look around for new place...

PS! I would not mind Google ads. No pics.
