''Rate Your Review'' thread

Post by Rok on May 14th 2009, 1:27 pm

This is just a simple thread that can be stickied in the Review section. It's for users who had a review completed, and if they want to rate their review, they could use something similar to this template :
  • Link to review :
  • Name of reviewer(s) :
  • Rating (_/10) :
  • Agreements :
  • Disagreements :
  • Comments :
  • Extra Info :

Yes / No Voting

This isn't a bad idea. This can also help staff by seeing how the community thinks of their reviews and how they might improve. Smile

Not sure this is needed. It's like a student correcting his teacher's correction...

It is a good idea because it gives reviewers tips on how to improve and can really help the quality of future reviews

I have to agree.

I do agree here too as it will help me/others doing their job. But would you like to correct your teacher for every miskate he/she made? I sure don't. The person that does the job should know what to do. If the person that request a review most likely does'nt know anything about review and how to do it. So how in the world can we get feedback if the person that request a review doesn't know anything? This is a 50/50% chance it will get accepted/refused

Re: 'Rate Your Review' thread

Why are we thinking this over as a student-teacher concept? It's a review thread, not a school class. This thread is just for feedback on the review, and everyone knows how the reviewers misunderstand some things while reviewing a user's forum; so then the user can describe some things that the reviewer left out. There's nothing really wrong with this idea, and it's very popular on most promotion forums. It helps many users cope with their reviewers and vice versa. This suggestion is just basically a thread for users to give feedback on their review instead of just replying to their review with "Thanks for the review; I like it!" all the time.

Rok;
What I fear is the "stupid member reaction". In simple it looks like this;
Good forum => Review says "Good" => Happy member => Good feedback
Crap forum => Review says "Not Good" => Angry member => Crap feedback

Not all members are capable of doing reviews or appreciating certain things being told to them Wink

But didn't we all agree on this before in the 'Review Staff Wanted!' thread? ...That it's the members fault for having the crappy forum and wasting time trying to get a review on their forum that they already know will get a bad rating. It's just simple... "If you members don't like your review, then it's your fault because you're the on with the crappy forum that got yourself a bad rating."
That's just like saying "Ohhh, I have a crapp forum and I expect to get a good review on it because it's crap, ooohhh. Look at me, I'm a bad boy with a random quote."

If that is your only concern than why not just make a stipulation about not whining in regards to posts in the thread? Or alternately, allow members to use their review thread to keep in contact with their reviewer and lock the thread if they get snotty.

I'm assuming (and perhaps I'm wrong in this) that most people seeking a review are looking for ways to make their forum better, not just a warm fuzzy pat on the back. In that vein, keeping an open dialogue between reviewer and reviewed will let the two discuss what suggestions did and did not work and why, which should be mutually beneficial. And I like the idea of leaving it where everyone can see it, just because my forum is a tiny infantile unformed fourmlet at the moment, so I read other people's reviews to get ideas about what and what not to do.

In other words, I don't know if a full out public flogging style rating of reviews thread is needed, but encouragement of continued dialogue is never a bad thing.
