Creation of a Theme Team on Forumotion?
Creation of a ''Theme Team''
First topic message reminder :
Here is a suggestion I think I've already talked about, but I couldn't find it...
I think one important lack of Forumotion is that members can't actually request full themes. I mean there are lots of things they can request, from little graphic things, to a full review of their forum, they can ask for support, etc. But I think Forumotion would have again more members if the members could receive a personal theme they could be the only one using. The service given is a standard forum. I guess some people sometimes want to go further than something standard.
Last time I proposed this, Jalokim created his own service of theme buying, but my main idea was completelly distorded. First because I didn't want to sell themes (or not too expensive), and then the prices were much too high in my opinion. But that's not the point of this suggestion.
I suggest creating a team composed only with members who have a good experience in creating themes, which could have their own subforum in the graphic requests section, where people could ask for a personal theme. Of course there should be strict rules on when to accept or refuse a request, but that's not the important thing for now.
Here is the way I see it step by step :
1. A member asks for a personal theme.
2. If the rules and requested points are OK with it, it's accepted.
3. The theme specialist (There could be a specialist for each version of a theme, for example Jalokim would do the Invision part, and Me or somebody else would take care of the phpBB part) tags the request, and works on it on a personal forum, giving previews so that they can talk about the work.
4. Once the request is fullfilled, the Theme specialist install his theme himself on the requester's board (so that the work can't be copied).
Then, some possibilities :
Or, the requester wants to be the only one to have the theme, and he has to pay a fixed price (I propose 5-10€, that would go 50% for the skinner, and 50% for the team).
Or, the requester gives authorization for the theme to be placed on Hitskin, and pays nothing.
Here it is. Of course there are ways to ameliorate the system, but I think it could be a good step to make Forumotion go further, by giving more personnalization opportunities...
What do you think? Suggestions are of course welcome.
Edit, here was it, with 100% approvals... http://help.forumotion.com/suggestions-for-the-support-forum-f28/skin-team-t24197.htm

Re: Creation of a 'Theme Team'
I like it
A sort of sub-branch of the GFX Team that would be intended on providing good themes for hitskin rather than providing graphics on the support forum

Re: Creation of a 'Theme Team'
This would be great, but I think it should be available for all members, not just for the one that requested it.

Re: Creation of a 'Theme Team'
Sorry to bring back an old topic but im just looking through and posting my opinion on these things.
I actually like this idea. There has been many times in the staff section were it has been questioned the quality of the themes that have been posted on hitskin. I think that this would help the situation as it would deliver high quality skins to hitskin as well as Jalokims and other good designers.
I will suggest this to caihlem in the next staff meeting and see the possibilities.

Re: Creation of a 'Theme Team'
hmm but there is a lack of talent .. urr well there are not many who come here and are good at photoshop and are willing to devote time
they mostly lack either one of the two
it would be nice if we had more gfx guys
so anyone who failed to make it on the Gfx team should brush up there skills and keep practising
Remember -- Practice Makes A Man Perfect (what about woman?
:joke)
Big Brother is always watching you.. muhahaha
