Stamping out PM support

Post by Darren1 on June 8th 2009, 7:10 am

First topic message reminder :

ok, bare with me, its a good idea, but its going to be poorly worded

Id like to suggest that we have something put into our profile that clearly states that we do not support the concept of PM support.

It would be an addition to the Personalized profiles, in the sense that it would be added under (or above) the language/location bars, and would only be editable Admin.

This would help the forum by:

Clearly stating that we do not do PM Support, and that we have a support section for support purposes only.

It would also allow us that regularly visit the support forum to have a less cluttered PM box, and have less c**p to handle.

We would also have more time to provide support to those that really need it.

Of cause, this would also go along brilliantly with the graphics requests, as I know they have their chime bells to members.

It would be well promoted around the forum as many members would have it on their profile, making it a great reminder to those who do ask for support via PM, and then all members AND staff have it, not just in their signature

This turned out better than I thought, I suppose I just needed the right idea Very Happy
Opinions please?

EDIT: If you are going to vote no please please say why in this here thread

EDIT2:
Yes I know this is going to go a long way too Cool

Daxterdude;
1 Reminder not to moderate members, only Moderators can do it. Reason being that when members do it, 9 times out of 10 they do it badly. In this case, there's a day gap between each of his posts Wink
1 Reminder for Spam. DON'T do it again unless you seriously want to reduce your life span on this forum Wink

daxterdude, its a suggestion, to add something to our profiles that we members can not edit, saying that "we do not do PM support" or similar.

You know asking/clarifying before voting usually is a good thing Wink

17 > 4 this is loookin good, excluding the faact Caihlem doesn't understand it

@Darren...
Do you really think this would work?

I don't think it would.If they don't read the rules,do you really think they would read the text in the profile?

But,I'll support your suggestion,just to see if this would work,or fail...

Weather or not it will work, is up to the noobs who actually do want PM support.
Everything is worth a shot after all Wink

Its there, in their face before they PM you, they have to see it.
Thus it has a probable chance.

Thanks for backing me up Smile

Im gonna add to my Yes, It should be a custom html page or something, that when you click PM it Pops up and says,

"Moderators and Administrators of help.forumotion.com do not provide support via PM, please use the support forums" and they you have to click a button at the bottom that says "i understand" and to PM the Mod/Admin they must click the button to goto the PM screen and if the PM contains support questions they get warned.

Or something along the lines of that Wink

But this can be added to their profile preferences so they can enable if they want to show a pop or no .

We can always enable the option for everyone and then we can just report the PM if it contains support content Wink
