Stamping out PM support

Post by Darren1 on June 8th 2009, 7:10 am

First topic message reminder :

ok, bare with me, its a good idea, but its going to be poorly worded

Id like to suggest that we have something put into our profile that clearly states that we do not support the concept of PM support.

It would be an addition to the Personalized profiles, in the sense that it would be added under (or above) the language/location bars, and would only be editable Admin.

This would help the forum by:

Clearly stating that we do not do PM Support, and that we have a support section for support purposes only.

It would also allow us that regularly visit the support forum to have a less cluttered PM box, and have less c**p to handle.

We would also have more time to provide support to those that really need it.

Of cause, this would also go along brilliantly with the graphics requests, as I know they have their chime bells to members.

It would be well promoted around the forum as many members would have it on their profile, making it a great reminder to those who do ask for support via PM, and then all members AND staff have it, not just in their signature

This turned out better than I thought, I suppose I just needed the right idea Very Happy
Opinions please?

EDIT: If you are going to vote no please please say why in this here thread

EDIT2:
Yes I know this is going to go a long way too Cool

Kiid; We are looking into solutions, it's just not that simple fufufu

i have a solution for the support pms but it refers to another suggestion "would you like an organise pm feature" with this you can set rules to where your messages kind of like a spam box for email.

I voted yes. I receive many pms asking for help or advertising and I think that this must be stopped. It's a good idea!

Re: Stamping out PM support

I think it's a good idea. PM support really bothers me because if I'm trying to help someone on the forum, but someone else keeps sending me these PM questions, it makes it hard to help the person who followed the rules and posted their question in the forum.

Hello Darren1

If you really have close to 1000 PM's to get throught. I vote "yes".

Can some form of script be written into the PM boxes showing approximate time delay for reply?
or something the member can see where their message is in the packing order?

If one or two are posting for quick support it might just make them look elsewhere in the forum for quicker solutions, this could free up time for the real members in need of help.

Reading this thread for the first tonight has made me realise how much work does go on behind the scene to help members like me.

I applaud you and the full staff for your efforts.

If all else fails sent a PM to the Support team.

Lots of love to each and everyone at the forum, and goodnight.

Liz
