Domain name A Record problem
Hi there,
Today I have registered my new forum at forumotion. I have been impressed with the simplicity and the power of the interface, so I decided to use this infrastructure. I loaded some credits so that I could use my own domain. There I have a problem.
My domain is external which means I purchased it through another registrar. Now all the documents I can find about setting up my own domain speaks about only CNAME settings. However, I need an A record for my domain. www.domain.dom is a subdomain and I wish to use forumotion's great service for the root of my domain. More clearly I wish the visitors to access my forumotion page when they type http://domain.dom/ but not http://www.domain.dom/
My solution to this is to create an A record for domain.dom I would appreciate if somebody could let me know how to create an A record which works with forumotion or an alternative solution.
Thanks in advance for any contributions.

The only way would be going though this.

Re: Domain name A Record problem
I thought my question was clear. However, it looks like it is not.
The information on that link explains only how to make http://www.domain.dom/ accessible. My question is about making http://domain.dom/ accessible. I do not want www or another subdomain prefix in my URL. I want to make the domain itself to point to my forumation forum.

The only way of getting an outside domain to work with Forumotion is to follow that link I provide above.

The page on that link have "absolutely no" information about how to point a domain to forumotion forum. It describes how to point only sub-domains. Once again, I am not asking about pointing sub-domains, my question is about pointing the domains.

Really?
I find this hard to believe.
My users must use "www.domain.com" ? Why can't they just type in "domain.com" without the www?
There must be a way, surely.
