Disallow moderators to view member's ip address in topics

I would like to suggest that an administrator should have the ability to allow/disallow the ability for moderators to view member's IP Addresses in topics.

There is a trick you can hide the IP address image,but that hides it for both admins & mods,

So,I would like for administrators to have the ability to allow/disallow mods from viewing member's IP addresses in topics.

I really want this for my forum because I only want my admins to see IPs not mods and mini mods, they can be a big trouble for some of the users. I hate having to hide the mini IP button.

So I voted Yes cause it would be lovely and awesome. :p

Why?

I believe that Moderator's SHOULD be aloud to see IP address'.
If their moderator's, their there because their trusted, right?
Thus they should be able to do what their role states of them to do.

I don't agree with that logic, seeing as you'll have cases where you might want a moderator not to see IPs, for the simple purpose that you want to limit certain powers to only administrators, not moderators. Also, you may trust certain moderators more than other moderators, so I think it would be best if the admin is given that option, and he can decide whether the mods can or cannot view the IP addresses.

If I didn't want a moderator to see a members IP address then Id simply hide the IP button.

Yes, but like the OP said, this hides it for both admins and mods.

And THAT is what I do at the moment SINCE this is not possible, but I get tired of doing it,

Everytime I want to check an ip, then I'll have to add the image Via ACP,then remove it so that mods can't view it.

Plus, in my suggestion, administrators have the ability to enable/disable this,

Hope I'm not stepping in on the convo but mini-mods can also see IPs addresses. My mini mods are only mods of a certain section only to take care of that section, delete spam and what not. I want my members to feel safe and not know that there IP Addresses are being looked at by a mini mod who don't have what it takes to be a super mod.

Plus I agree with Master Marc, people go out their way to gain your trust, and then just stab you in the back.

It would be great if you can view the members IP Address in the ACP, but you can only do that if that member is on.

If you can't trust moderators why cab you trust administrators.

I definitely think admins should be given the option to either allow, or disallow, moderators from viewing the IP addresses.

I think it's a good option. I don't want my Forum Moderators be looking at I.P.s and members feeling watched. You know that viruses and other stuff can be sent through I.P. Addresses?

Yes, why not.

The image still stays there even when you hide it, just tested it. When you hide it, there is an image replaced it with dimensions 1x1 (HeightXWidth) and I noticed that it can still be clicked. I don't know, but if your mini-mods don't find out about that image there, it would be best for now temporarily. Hide it and find out yourself. You might have to highlight the gap, though so you can see the blue block.

Well i don't mind that option being there.

However, a moderator is a person whom you really trust. So does it really matter for me if my mods see that, well not.

I don't think I would use it, but I think it's still good to have the option of switching it on and off, so I voted yes.
