move members automatically into a group

Post by AiKirika on August 16th 2009, 4:07 pm

First topic message reminder :

i dont know if it was already suggested into an own thread in here...
but ive searched and didnt found one... so yeah... here it comes...

i know that already many ppl wanted this to happen...

admins should have the option to set up a group that when a new member registers... he should automatically get moved into this group...
that way the bothersome manual adding to a group which contains all members would fall away...
pming all members at once would therefore be possible... as well as a few other forum access/permissions would made easier to set up...

along this it also should be possible to get members moved automatically into a group with x amount of post
this would help a lot of forum owners

of course it should be possible to remove a member out of a group without the automatic system to add them in again... and need to be added manually again if wanted..

i suggest on the modification page of each groups a choice like this should be implemented
automatic move of members: no, when registering, when reaching the amount of [ x ] posts

Isn't this coming with the next update?

"Auto-subscribe to a group : a member will now be able to join automatically a group, regarding the post limit fixed by the admin."

It definitely will be, since there aren't any limitations that would prevent it from being on one version but not on the other. Great news to hear that its coming in the next update...

When I click on: Group auto-subscribe : Yes Minimum Posts : 0, it still doesn't get saved, anyone know why?

+1 vote.
A good idea is also to include automatic deletion from a group once a member joins the hierarchically higher one (esp. in the case of groups/ranks created for placing members with certain amounts of posts, e.g. 0-1 newbie; 2-29 curious; 30-99 interested, ... etc)

The same idea is debated in the french forum.
