As you're still a beginner, I give you some advices.

1- Your backgrounds : The main problem with your backgrounds, is that the joins where the background repeats itself is visible and so, this isn't beautiful to see as well as the background you used makes the style look "loaded". Use backgrounds for which the join isn't visible when it's repeated. That's why horizontal gradients render best most of the time.

2- Readability : On your column headers, the background you used makes the header texts hard to read, because at some place, the background is very light and so, almost the same brightness than the texts.

3- Your header : The border is just... weird ! It would have rendered better with a real transparency, or if you used a gradient background that would have made fake transparency possible.

4- Your nav button : Always consider the fact that some people would activate some modules, such as the Portal, the Calender or the Gallery, so make button for these modules as well As it is, your navbar has a default button for the portal, which breaks the aesthetics.

5- Your navbar style : For a phpBB3 version, buttons with only texts on a fake transparency or real transparency render best, when it comes to full-image navbars. You can see an example here, on my testboard where I'm currently working on phpBB3 versions of my FM styles : http://youwontfindme.editboard.com

6- Overall look : Even if you kept the same color scheme, we still feel prosilver too much, and there is no unity in your style, and there are serious aesthetics issues.
In order to help you improving yourself in styling, I recommend you to read these guidelines here : http://help.forumotion.com/hitskincom-support-f48/skin-style-and-aesthetics-guidelines-t47086.htm

I would have liked to continue the review, but it seems that the nicetheme forum demo is under maintenance, but you already have a good idea of what has to be improved in your skin.

we still feel prosilver too much,

Cornelia, could you please suggest a way to make it look not as much as the prosilver style?

Now that nicetheme is back, I can continue.

What I mean by "we feel prosilver too much", is that the colors are almost not modified at all. Only images are different but there is no consistency. Plus, the announcement and sticky icons aren't changed, and same for the profile buttons. The style isn't much personalized.

Oh, well in that case, its true that its "prosilver-y". And yes, I see that its not really aesthetically justified. Smile Thanks.

crystal786, the theme was made for the Caihlem Theme Contest. Smile

It's very good, Marc, but it looks a lot like proSilver. But good job, and good luck in the theme voting.

People enjoy artwork when it contains abstract, vector or gloss. On this theme, I don't really see how many people will get it. I will access you, though.

Header background image: The design is too brisk and overlaps one another. The header background image should flow nicely throughout the whole header background.

Page background: The page background should not be overdone. The classical white background would've looked better.

Navigation bars: You are indeed being creative, and have put a lot of work into it, although the colors you choose are not matching. Take this example:
iBradley has used a correct blend of colors. The white matches well because of the black shadow. The maroon background has got a pastel kind of gloss.

Forum icons: They are okay, but I suggest putting a white border around them. Although it may not be viewable by some, it looks far more attractive than compared to a light blue --> outgoing dark blue border.

Template editing: If you use PHPbb2 or PunBB at ANY stage, I advise you use template editing. Let me show you an example from my forum, I've got a global announcement to spread over the whole forum. Wanna check it out? Click here...

Overall rating:
You have a far way to go, but take a look at the Proposals and the Gallery to see what pleases members. Therefore, you can make things like so. Ask the designers for advise if possible, or even ask a fellow member like TanMan.

Your rating is 5.3/10

Thank you so much Cornelia for your advice.

Am sure my third skin will impress you,

Or if it doesn't, I have failed you, beu

Also, something is strange... am sure I used some images in the footer and below the header's logo... but not by the white parts...

@AppleCo.,
I used phpBB3 for a reason, Wink

If I wanted to do template editing, I would have used by favourite old punBB version. Not phpBB2 because I've done a theme with that version already, tongue

Also, thanks to everyone who commented on my theme.
