In progress Domain help!

Post by udarsha45 August 21st 2018, 5:42 am

So basically, I have another 127 days till my custom domain expires

My question is: is there a way to change my current custom domain to something else?

Hello!
If you are wanting to change your custom domain name, you will want to wait for the current one to expire or you can delete it now but in doing so you will need to purchase your new domain name like you did with the current one as it will allow you to change it then. But there is no way to change it by simply renewing it, when you renew the domain name you are doing so for the current domain name you are using.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
James

Also changing the domain name is not good on your SEO.

Hello @udarsha45 once your domain name has ran out then you can change it in your ACP or you can renew it BUT remember you must have one of our yearly Packages to do so.

As SLGray has already said this can make you loose your members and google / bing web search and your ratings will go down to nothing and start all over again so it is Never a good move to do this unless your 100% sure you don't mind loosing new members.

I don't think so, once we pay for the domain name for you we own it for the entire year. Now we could ask if they will dis connect the domain name from your forum, but be aware this will mess up your seo and you will not get a refund for the money you paid for the domain.

Hello @udarsha45,
Per the following thread below. You may need to send the forum URL, Creation email, and Proof that you are the founder to one of our admins so they can do this for you.

@udarsha45 Please send me a pm with the email address you used to create the forum, a screenshot of the receipt from when you bought the domain name and the url of the forum you want the domain name removed on and I will see if I can get it unlinked for you. Like I said above though, you would not get a refund of the money you paid to get the domain name and it could hurt your seo.
