The version i use the most personally is phpbb2.

Reason being its relatively simple for my users to navigate on. They don't have to search all over for most things and its pretty easy to customize. I like discovering new things to tinker with in it as well such as the templates feature.

My overall favorite version is probably going to be invision.

Reason being? It's really cool looking. The futuristic feel it gives makes it an awesome choice for more advanced forum makers. Also with its fully customizable CSS sheet its a designers paradise. The only thing i'm pretty much saddened about is the lack of template editing though i hope in the future it'll be allowed.

I'd probably recommend either phpbb2, or punbb. Both are pretty simple and easy to design and there are perhaps hundreds of tutorials and screenshots that the person could use to better design their site. Plus it allows them to grow into the development phase by giving them plenty of tools that they could use to design their forum.

What's far beyond CSS? Did you stick HTML in the catagoreys, annocmeants, ect.? If you think there is something that can be done on Invision that can't be done on punBB then you're wrong. Also, once again, I am not defending phpBB2, and phpBB3 may be the version with the least bugs, but you can't do anything with it, no matter what you do with it you can easily tell that it is a phpBB3 forum.

Alright, Justin, Dion. This topic is not for debate on what version you think is less buggy or whatever. Its just to see what you use and why you use it. Try and keep it to the main theme of the topic please.

I would have to say phpbb2. It has more relevant usage and easy-to-configure templating.

iam using phpbb3, because very simple for me..

When I first joined Forumotion, I was using phpBB3 and I liked it very much. I found it to be very stable and a well thought out platform. Recently, I was persuaded to upgrade to the Invision board and I'm glad I did!

I suppose for everyone it depends on your level of experience and comfort in what version you use but I prefer to have the most current and up-to-date things.

With Invision there are several features not available in the others such as improved ONLINE STATISTICS with different graphics for each, page numbering on posts, a better memberlist and improved access to profile features in the post profiles to mention a few.

Now is phpBB2 and I like this!

I use invision. Because for me it's the easiest to use out of all of them.

After inspecting my site ... i can confirm that I use
ph-pun-ision BB ... the very best of all 3 versions.

I´m using Invision, cause all of the forums I´ve been on have been this version.

I find it very difficult to manage. But I´d say it´s cause I´m just a novice.
If there is a topic with a list of those CSS codes for Invision to make the forum look nicer, can someone post the link please.
