Should the software be upgraded?
phpBB2 usage in Forumotion
Forumotion uses phpBB2, which is an outdated version of phpBB. It lacks the extremely useful granular permissions system and most of phpBB3's security features. Also, phpBB2 is notorious for its frequent hackings.
Although the other features (Blogs, RPG, Chatbox) compensate a little bit for the usage of phpBB2, the lack of many features is rather annoying.
The "phpBB3" Forumotion package only uses phpBB3's templating system, as does PunBB and Invision.
I request that this problem is solved and the software upgraded.

Poll added.
Please share your thoughts.
I think that it ought to be added because Forumotion lacks a very useful feature: granular permissions, which allows you to disable post count, ban users without the Admin Panel, and much more, such as custom BBCode and spiders management.

Re: phpBB2 usage in Forumotion
The upgrade to phpBB2 was phpBB3 and since then many upgrades
were made to the phpBB3 program by it's designers, only the template
editing wasn't given by forumotion as an option in it's forums
Do you mean that template editing should be available on all formotion
forum programs?

Re: phpBB2 usage in Forumotion
I would prefer to see forumotion get rid of phpBB2 and add template editing to phpBB3 and IPB2/Invision. forumotion won't add a feature unless it can be supported on all board types. Getting rid of phpBB2, the boat anchor written in the last millennium, would allow forumotion to add features that are currently impossible to add.

You can only have Yes and No Poll. I really don't care what Forumotion does with removing phpbb2 cause I don't have a forum but help others mange theirs.

Re: phpBB2 usage in Forumotion
Did you ever think about the people who would rather use phpbb2 than phpbb3?
and you should only have a yes and no as MrMario said

Sorry, I never saw that rule. :| Can someone change the poll please, I can't do it.nukinfoobs wrote:Did you ever think about the people who would rather use phpbb2 than phpbb3?

Oh, and they should be able to use it. But an option to use real phpB3 should be added, Forumotion lacks many features impossible to add with its current setup.

Re: phpBB2 usage in Forumotion
I'm a moderator on a Forumotion forum but the Moderator Control Panel is tiny compared to that of phpBB3.
Also, I administrate a tiny forum which is tiny only because I can't fix granular permissions (due to Forumotion running phpBB2 on every single installation), yet I like the choice of HTML pages here.

Re: phpBB2 usage in Forumotion
Totally not, I prefer my PHPBB2 over PHPBB3 anyday. It really isn't outdated since its only the template. Forumotion updates it so I really don't see a reason to remove it.
