Bump posts without posting
Bumping Posts without Posting
Im a moderator on another forum that has this perk for paid members. However i would like to make this available to all members, as im tired of seeing BUMP all the time.
Who else would like to see this added in to posts, where they can bump their Threads ONLY without posting.
Heres what im talking about

Re: Bumping Posts without Posting
lol it wouldn't be bumping without the post.
Butt-Ugly Martians sounds nice
I say no simply because posts are for forums.

Yes POSTS are for forums but to post bump 50-100 times a day is very irritating and i cant stand it. This would take away that BUMP from members who are impatient.

Then I suggest to you that you make rules about bumping. A forum shouldn't have 100 bump posts in a day...

Re: Bumping Posts without Posting
I've seen this on another forum I've been on in the past... members could bump their own post using a button on the OP in the same area as the "quote" and "edit" and all that.
What was really nice about it was that it was in the system and could be limited to once per X hour(s).
I'd love to see this general idea, but the way you have it (and for all members?!?!) would be space-consuming.
--Also, it looks like it's in the moderator control panel, correct? Members might get lost in there.--

Re: Bumping Posts without Posting
Its in the paid members control panel only. Members who pay so and so per year are limited to how many bumps thier allowed per month.
Level 1 Membership 10 Bumps per month
Level 2 Membership 20 Bumps per month
Level 3 Membership 40 Bumps per month
I dont want to limit my members by making them pay for it. I do like the limit on how many per month and if i get a sponsor donating money i can increase his bumping accordingly

Re: Bumping Posts without Posting
I'm sorry, but you do realize that if this suggestion was to be implemented, every topic would have 'BUMP' posts in them. It would be havoc! Post Statistics would go out of control, old and outdated topics would be 'ungraved', and all of the NEW topics (that DO get posts) would be on the last page of each forum. Voted no, obviously.
You can accomplish that manually by just setting up a topic with a donation link. However, it wouldn't matter; members are going to bump topics no matter what. You wouldn't be able to moderate every single member.Richsballpythons wrote:Level 1 Membership 10 Bumps per month

Agree to Rok comment. It would make it really hard to find out who needs help and who posted first. Its already hard enough to get people for bumping.

Re: Bumping Posts without Posting
This is a very good idea for forums containing buying and selling sections. You could set the amount of time between bumps.

Re: Bumping Posts without Posting
Two things:
A) Great! Yes! Absolutely!
B) I have to agree with Rok, though. Perhaps this could be solved by having two separate columns in the "Recent Topics" tab. The one would be "Recent Topics", simply as that, and the other could be "Bumped Topics". This could be solved even further, by having it so that topics in sections of the administrator's choice (eg. "Help") automatically be above the bumped posts. Perhaps there could even be an option to limit bumps (eg. a topic can only be bumped when it's no longer on the recent topics page) or something similar.
