Loggin in problem
I've a member on my board who has started to have log in probs and whilst logged in every post / thread he posts he has to log in..
I've told him to delete the forum cookies which he has done....
I've had him delete his internet history Temporary Internet files, History and Cookies , he is using (IE8).
Things were ok for about 20 mins then it went back to how it was.
The board is on phpbb2 (was phpbb3 but changed it today because of they layout probs).
Any help would be really grateful
Thanks.

Re: Loggin in problem
So, let me get this straight you can't log in? It might be possible your account was deleted.
Re: Loggin in problem
No , my account is fine.
One of the members on the board is having probs logging in. Once he manages to log in within a minute or two he's logged out automatically.
Thanks

Re: Loggin in problem
Ohh, thats happened to me. Ok so he logs in and in like 2 minutes he gets logged out right? Well then have him register again and see what happens if it's fine on his new account delete his old account.
The person, logs in then get's logged out automatically? Try having the admin check the Admin Panel and see if anything is wrong.

Thats right mate , thats what happens.
I'll get him to register again, with a new account.
I am the admin on the site.
I changed his password and gave him a temp password and tried to log in using my pc.
The prob still persisted.

Re: Loggin in problem
You don't need to create a new account. It will just be the same thing.
Try using Chrome or FireFox and see if that fixes the problem. You can try changing your IP: By pulling the plug on your internet and putting back in.

Re: Loggin in problem
Sorry its been a while...
The member in question is still having logging on problems. Originally he was using IE8 , he has tried Firefox and the problem is still persisting.
This is the message he sent me
Well i used Firefox, changed my password about 4 times, log on and as soon as i want to post or reply to something, it throws me out and i have to try and log in, repeatedly.
Any help would be greatfully appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Loggin in problem
I have a member on my forum who has posted a similar problem.
He logs on and can read and post but if he leaves his pc, without logging off, for a short time to do something else when he wants to use the forum again he has to log on again.
Here is what he posted today......
This has been a problem for me for a long time, and I can't help but think that is has affected others as well, and maybe even to the point of keeping them away from this forum.
It seems like every other time I come here, or if I have to leave to do something else, when I come back I will have to log in again.
Just this afternoon I have had to log on three times, it is maddening.
I have many sites that I visit every day, and very rarely have to log back in again, perhaps once a quarter at best.
I have wanted to say something, and wished I had now, and I am sorry for that; but now I am asking if there might be a setting somewhere that could remedy this situation?
(End of post)
I have checked through the Admin CP and can find nothing that I can set to stop a member from being logged of.
I know that putting a tick in the remember me box is supposed to save logging in and out but it does not.
To add, this person is not a newbie, he works with computers and applications as a full time job.
Can anyone give any advice on this matter please.

Re: Loggin in problem
This is a security system on Forumotion. If you are on a page without doing anything it will log you out. There is no way of changing this. You can increase the log off by its only to 60 minutes.

Re: Loggin in problem
I've set the inactive time to maximum allowance of 60 minutes already. This doesn't seem to be the problem.
The problem i'm talking about is the member has to log in several times in a matter of minutes. If he tries to post a thread or even just reply to a post he has to log in.

On my forum I am returning 6 hours later and I am still logged on.
So I would say it is nothing to do with Forumotion Security. It does not log you off after 60 minutes.
My member was getting the same problem as posted by newport in his post above this one.

That is only for when you are online its not when you log off and log back in.
I've been logged in to the forum for two years straight.
