Profile Help? Empty Profile Help?

Well, I am on a forum and I want to add a profile field. I've added the field, etc. And I've set it to be available for members to edit, and it shows up on profiles and messages, but what I need put in there is extremely long... Is there any way I can shorten it so it looks like this:
Profile Help? By_def32

instead of this:
Profile Help? By_def33

Hmm... that's strange, because the forum that did it like I want it to look is a forumotion forum. I wonder how they did it...

Can you show us that forum so we can see what has been done? Or as it is a profile field, can you show us a screenshot?

That is a Character Field that is different the the other fields.
