Categories not displaying

I have 3 categories on my forum (i've tried with both Phpbb3 and punbb) and the categories do not show up, all the forums are just clumped into one section

how do I make the categories display? it would really help if the forums were separated/organized

Display>Structure & hierarchy
Split categories on index: medium
Save.

On another note, is there a way to change the number of characters displayed on the news page without having to press read more? Smile
