How do you promote links to your members

Dear all,

I would like to know how you promote links and stuff you would like to advertise on your forum (obviously not talking about promotion forums but normal ones)

For example i am trying to tell the members of my forum to help a friend win by voting DJ BEATITUDE @

I firstly tried announcements. But then again..Who cares about announcements?
Normally pictures do their job better...but then again older people dont care about people but context?

What is better? to ask for "please vote for dj bea..." or "This is DJ beatitude!" and promote his work, and then "if you would like to help him" blablabla..


Where do you put your posts? Do you put them on homepage? pictures everywhere?

I am really interested into knowing ,

Personally the worst is to send a message out to members, not many read it, but its also not really proffesional.
