Banned Usergroups Empty Banned Usergroups

Post by Leaf June 16th 2010, 2:11 am

I was wondering how I would set up a usergroup(like mods, admins) that is for banned members that are allowed to view the forum.

They can't posts, send pms, or submit anything. Just read.
How would I set that up, because when I tried to edit the permissions it wouldn't let me uncheck the boxes.

Only way to get the PM blocked is by going into their account in the admin panel and disable it.

Click Advance Mode and uncheck post/write // Save

For section you do for each section you wish to have the users not be able to post.

Disabling PM's you must do it for each user.

Mrmario, I don't see the disable posts button.
I See the "Allow to send PM's', but not "allow to post" button

The allow post option doesn't exist in the profile.

You must create a group and then set the permissions for the group.

So Create a group called Banned Members, then make it so they can't post.
My problem is that the boxes will not uncheck.
When I select it so members can post, it automaticlly fills it so the banned members can post. And it wont let me remove it

Yes that will happen. You should have a members group to execute this perfectly. All users will be in the members group, by having 1 as minimum # of posts for someone to enter that group.

Ok I made a group called new members and set it so you need 1 post to be part of the group.
When I try to edit the forums permissions, there is no mention about my new members group.

So i'm confused.
Can you give me step on step instructions

I don't really understand. You created a group with minimum no. of posts set to 1 for you to enter that group. But, that group is not appearing on where you set the permissions for forums or categories?

Ok, I clicked Group administration in the admin panel and created a group but I don't see anything about having a certain post count to join.

That feature is only for ranks.
So when I created a rank called members and created the # of posts needed at 1, there was nothing appearing in the categories permissions about that rank.

Group auto-subscribe : Choose Yes
Then you can add the no of posts.
