Not sure where this exactly belongs for a topic, and I can't seem to find an answer that works on the search bar (maybe I am not looking for the right word combo?).

I really cannot find out how to do this, and I have very little technically knowledge (please bear with me). I have recently realized much to my horror that despite everything that I have done in my Admin panel to prevent searches on my forum. These nosy bots come and go, and then make it so that my forum will come up on a web search engine.

I have it where I need to personally activate members and that in order to see anything you must register. But these things STILL get information of sorts and share it with the world

I want to ban these things and refuse them to violate the privacy of my forum and my members. Is there a way to do this? So that all bots are banned and cannot show my forum on a search engine? I only want my forum to be accessible to those that have the direct URL.

Thanks

If only members can see your forum, then Bots and Crawlers will not be able to see it. They are like guests.

They still put it up on a search engine and explain how many posts we have and the members. Also the last log in members.

I don't even want it searchable. I'd rather just "not exist" to search engines.

All you can do is set your forum for guest not to have permissions.
Bots can not register on your forum and can only have aces to what they have permissions to as guest.
So set all your permissions not to allow guest and the bots will only stay on the outside of your forum and can not gather any information.

You could close off the forum to members only by adjusting your forum to members only.
Smile Myself & my co founder worked out a way to show half the forum without the Bots & Guests from seeing the forum. Smile
Even though we get guests & Bots the forum can only be viewed by members when logging on. You need to play around in the admin panel with the permissions & its best that there is two of you doing the adjustments.

Finally Bots dont do any harm they gather information about your forum

Hope thats helped Smile
