Solved A question about PM security

Post by Rum July 18th 2010, 1:12 am

I'm wondering if there is a way to view PM's others have sent.
Now
I ask this question because I have be quoted twice now, word for word on PM's I have sent to 2 different people that have nothing to do with each other. And the quotes are being made by a troublesome non-member. So it's not like these 2 people sent her the PMs for her to quote me on.
Some how she ( The troublesome non-member ) is able to see what I'm sending out in PM's

It's french law, it's an invasion of privacy.
ForuMotion = French company, located in France, thus follows French laws Wink

wow?
Techguy aka bobby, if your havign the same problem, then please try not to confuse me O.O

Rum, can I just re-clarify the problem please ->
A member of your site is receiving & reading PM's that you send to only 1 member, effectively meaning 2 members are receiving this PM?

Who's techguy? Now you've confused me more!!! ahhhhhhhhhhh

Edit: Are you talking about techguy1001? Yeah, I know him. I am the lead graphics designer for his forum. I'm not a member of it, but I just wanted to advertise his forum for him just cause he's my friend. So don't just assume I'm techguy1001. Techguy's replacement account is swaybar11.

Solved Re: A question about PM security

Post by Rum July 18th 2010, 3:24 am

Ok Long story short.
First instance.
I messaged a member of my group and a non member also received the message as well.

Second Instance.
I messaged a DIFFERENT member in my group and the same thing happen with the same nonmember receiving that message as well.

Now
Tell me about Visitor Messages on profiles. Are the able to be viewed by the public?
OR
Just the owner of the profile?

Hmm, so this has occurred for a period of time ....
Sounds like a technical problem to me, Ill ask a mod to pop in here who may have a different view to me.

Visitor messages; It's available for everyone to see, except for guests I believe.

Bobby, my apologies, I thought you were Techguy based off your profile & posts.

Well yea, the visitor messages are visible to all, where PM's are only sent between 2 people, unless more are added to the list Wink
