Custom Profile Entries as Variables? Empty Custom Profile Entries as Variables?

Post by ioncann0ns August 6th 2010, 7:23 am

http://motivationclanca.forumotion.com/index.htm

Look at the lowermost widget on the widget panel.

The current code for this is:

Code:
<center>You:<br><img src="http://thecaconline.net/cbl/sig/player/{USERNAME}.jpg" border="0" alt="" width="160" height= "35"/><br>Motivation:<br>
<img src="http://thecaconline.net/cbl/sig/clan/Motivation.jpg" border="0" alt="" width="160" height= "35"/><br><br>
<i>Note: Your account will only work if your username is the sames as your in-game name. Username change requests must be verified.</i>

I would prefer to have the personal info be something like "cbl/sig/player/{USERIGN}.jpg" the USERIGN variable being derived from a custom profile entry.

In addition, I would like the personal image not to be displayed unless the user is logged in, but the clan image to be displayed regardless.

Any help is appreciated.

Custom Profile Entries as Variables? Empty Re: Custom Profile Entries as Variables?

i dont think it's posibil.
personal image or not if the board/portal widiget is set for guest.
then they will see a image.

this sounds like something that you want to auto update and so fourth.

what is cbl status? is this a widget you created. and whats the code from.. did you create that too. i mean unless you have some sort of script that you can add to your forum that will auto update things or like you are saying only display a personal picture in this widget when there logged in.

When you create post here and have questions for things like this that are out of the ordinary. you have to realy explain and put examples in as much detail as posibil.

all it's doing is confusing me to where i cant give a straight answer or try to help and see if it's posibil or not.

you have to remember forumotion is a free forum host and do not have certain features options to upload custum modules, or things that have to be added to data base or server..And as of now this seems like something that would require data and module access? but i am not certain on that either?
lately it seems i have been getting a lot of off the wall bizarre request of things that are not explained right.

so please try to explain.. i mean if there is way to get something to work on a forumotion forum then we will do our best to help out.

Custom Profile Entries as Variables? Empty Re: Custom Profile Entries as Variables?

Post by ioncann0ns August 7th 2010, 8:18 pm

Sorry, I'm not sure how much better to explain it, but I'll try again.

I have this line of HTML in the custom widget, with the username variable as a modifier for the URL.

img src="http://thecaconline.net/cbl/sig/player/{U$ERNAME}.jpg"

(I had to make the "S" a "$" because it changes my post to "Using php in posts is called being a smart ass... Stop it" when I tried to enter it in the post.)

This works ok-ish because the website it is referring to is a community site for our clan's game, and has username links for every players in-game name.

The issue is that many players don't make their username on the forums, the same as their in-game name. Because of this, the image links are often broken.

I would like to use a variable for a custom profile field called "in-game name" that is entered by a user.

img src="http://thecaconline.net/cbl/sig/player/{USERIGN}.jpg"

Is there a way to make custom user variables like this, or to transfer user-data to the widget under the free forum system?
