Proxy blocking Empty Proxy blocking

Post by JessicaInfinite March 27th 2010, 7:00 pm

I know this question has been asked many times as I searched the forums beforehand, but I was wondering although it is not possible at the moment, what is the likelihood of it being put in place? I have a rogue member who last year stole content off my forums and was using it on his own site, every time he comes back he uses a proxy and he does not give up! And he has recently returned to do exactly the same as before. I think I may have banned him at least 5 times now but everytime he just re-registers immediately.
I've taken the advice given about situations like this and have set my forums to admin activation only, yet it's proving very difficult distinguishing between real members and him so I fear I may be losing members because of this.
If there's no way this is ever going to happen I think I'll have to move my forums over to vbulletins or something as I know they have the option to block proxy access to their forums which is what I really need right now.

I know this is an issue but you can always look up the ips of the proxy servers and enter them in. I know, theres alot so it would take some time. Or make a html page programmed to check their ip from an array of those Ip lists or proxy servers and if it doesnt match then forward them to the real homepage and then set the custom html page as you homepage.

Hello,

I'm sorry but it is not possible to block any proxies, all you can do to prevent this rogue member from returning is setting it to user or admin activation.
