I've read the controversy over this.
It hardly works at all and that isn't acceptable.
I really wish that I had know that before I started this.
Why hasn't this been fixed? How hard can it be?
Rant over.
Ok--is there a work around?

Can someone tell me how to incorporate a seamless search facility into the forum?

The search engine works very sporadically and returns unexpected results.
Is there a solution available?

I don't think that your average key striker is going to be interested in utilizing code to accomplish a normally simple utility.

What many factors? A search routine is a relatively simple thing.
I don't understand why searching for a single word doesn't return the instances of that word used in the forum. What am I missing?

Mine doesn't work... never has and it's been active for about two years... is there any way we can disable the search function instead? This would be better than having something on there that doesn't work. I note, however, it seems to work just fine here (found this thread with it).

It is possible to disable the search function and remove it completely from the navbar Smile

Admin Panel - Display - Headers & Navigation

Scroll down to Nav Links. Click on the gold cogwheel next to Search and then just click on Rights (modify) to change who is able to view it.
