@Draxion yes! Those tables are for members to use for their reviews. They don't include the FM tables but just the content that you need to complete one review!

The request templates are different in where you request a review and where you see guidelines. Review template in where you request a review is simple and could be changed so that it has all the templates for each review.

@Forumedic what is your question?
Are there going to be edits in the review request section to make it more user friendly and easier?

In your opinion what would make it easier and more user friendly? What changes need to be done?

I'd just remove the review template you have in the request and switch it with the templates for each type of review, exactly like shown here:

Re: [Only Topic] Questions about Reviews

Post by Sarah.givemestories on March 3rd 2016, 4:53 pm

I've read all ten pages (5 years worth of questions), so I'm pretty sure my situation is...unique to the point of confusing. But please bear with me.

I made a forum that's just for me, like literally. The "members" on it are all me. The content is all me. It's not a social network - I'm using the forum functions for my own, unique purposes - like turning a public playground into a private one and letting the imagination fill all the usual roles, instead of other people. You might be wondering, "What the heck does that even look like?" so here's the link: http://illustrare.forumotion.com/

Now I've spent a really long time designing my forum and making it beautiful. When I saw this section in Support, I thought, "Great, I can maybe ask someone to give me professional feedback on all my hard work." And I still really want that.

Then I saw the requirements, and read the questions and realized, "Oh. My forum really is unusual...like, unnatural unusual..." I can't, and won't ever meet the "activity" requirements, because that's not my forum's purpose.

I honestly have no idea what to do here. I'm even beginning to question if I belong here. Will someone help me? Am I allowed to have feedback, even though it's not possible for me to reach the quota? Is my forum even a "forum"? Could a staff member here just talk to me, please, and decide if this situation should even be addressed here? Thanks.

Hi. I was mainly unsure because of the review criteria. It rates aspects my forum isn't designed to have, so where does that leave me?

If you'd like to have a review for your forum for a specific part then you can request a "One Area Review". An example would be General Forum Appearance. If you'd like a simple review, you will be graded on specific elements of the forum. Elements of the forum that do not really pertain to the forum will be graded 10/10 I believe. For example, a test forum for a theme would likely be graded 10/10 for activity, but it is dependent on the reviewer I guess. You can request a simple review and I'm sure the review would take in to account your type of forum if that makes sense.

Re: [Only Topic] Questions about Reviews

Okay. So just to be clear. If I request a simple review, my reviewer would use this list of criteria:

First Impressions
General Forum Appearance
Forum Activity
Staff & Usergroups
Forum Originality
Forum Layout & Organization
Grammar & Spelling

They'd provide short comments and a rating for each. If my forum isn't designed for Activity or Staff and Usergroups, then my reviewer would just leave a 10/10 and move on?

Each area is rated separately. For each area you get a rate out of 10 and then we sum the rates and divide the total by 7. That's your average score. In simple reviews you get a small comment and feedback for each area and a list of advantages and disadvantages of each area.

Look, guys, I'm not confused about how your review process works. You make it abundantly clear.

I just want to know what happens if the reviewer is asked to go OFF book. How do you review a forum that purposefully doesn't meet the criteria? For example, my forum has no member activity and it isn't meant to. Since that is an explicitly rated element, then how would you adjust the review?

Why would you want a review if the forum is only for you?

*sigh* Can anyone give me a straight answer here?

First you tell me that it's perfectly fine for me to request a simple review, and it's implied that my reviewer could change the criteria to work with the unique elements of my forum. But when I try to confirm this, you don't give me a concrete answer, and on top of that, now you're asking me why I would even want a review.

So, the fact that it's just for me DOES make it illegitimate? Will someone just give me feedback for my work, even if it doesn't fit the normal forum criteria, or should I leave?

I explained this in my previous post, you'll likely get a 10/10 for that section and it won't be talked much. If a member were to review you forum and talk about your activity, than just focus on the parts of his/her review that help you/review the aspects you are looking for. You will not be punished for these scores and you will not be forbidden to request a review for missing some aspects on the area fields we fill out. I hope that clears everything for you, if you request a review I am sure you will get a better understanding after receiving a review.

@Sarah.givemestories this depends on your forum. Each Reviewer sees your forum differently. Each Reviewer presents his site of view for your forum and not what you want to hear. For me the criteria that you have no activity might be crucial and seem as a disadvantage. To others it might seem as an advantage. It surely depends on the Reviewer and how your forum is at that point! Wink

Are we allowed to request a review for a forum if we are an admin but not the founder?

Yes, you only need to be an admin to request a review for a forum. You dont have to be the founder, but if your not the founder and still have contact with the founder, I would ask if requesting a review of the forum is ok with them out of respect, but you dont have to, as long as your an admin, you are allowed to request a review.

@Draxion

Only Administrators of your forum can request a review here. If you are not an Administrator, you may not request for a review. If your Administrators group is hidden, you must post a screenshot of the group itself proving that you are an Administrator.

Usually if you are a hidden admin that is not visible to a guest you can add a link showing your name and your access to the panel on your review request.
Example: Administration Proof
