Quick reply and smilies Empty Quick reply and smilies

Post by lisa1302 August 31st 2010, 11:13 pm

Recently when my users are typing in the quick reply box and they try to add a smilie - it opens up the full reply box and you have to re select the smilie

Its very annoying!
I have tried to disable and re enable but no joy.

Any ideas why it will jump to full reply when smilies are inserted?

Lisa, Something to do with browser? Ask them to clear their cache.

Also, does it happen to all users?

It happens to me too - so I cleared cache on Firefox and it still jumps

It is very odd, almost like its conflicting with a setting I have changed since I turned quick reply on - because we are all fairly sure it didn't happen at first.

Its not the end of the world of course, I have turned it off for now - but I would like to be able to put it back on!

EDIT - no not all users, although some may not have tried to add a smilie to the quick reply box, those it happens to its random, it will work properly once and then jump to the full reply loads, and then maybe work!

OK, so I did the resync, and the issue is still there

I just had a thought, I think I know why its doing it

We have a new domain name, which is set to forward to our forum ( i have another thread open about how to set the dns as it wont work)

Pretty sure itt only does the funny jumping for people who are using the .com address and being forwarded.

Would that make sense and therefore once the domain is set up correctly the issue wouldn't be there?

Yes that could be the issue, why it does that.

But, it should've happened to all users & not just a few.

However, we will let that dns thing to be fixed after which we will see if the problem persists.

well I have a feeling that most are using the .com and only a few using the original userboard.net address

I don't want to ask my users which they are using as they will only get confused!

they can live without quick reply til the dns is sorted!

thank you!

Oh then that justifies why some users face the problem & some do not.

Now, i am positive that the problem will be sorted once the dns is sorted.

I will let this thread open, let us know what happens.
