Why is there a gap in the forum?
A gap has appeared between my forum and the widgets
I suspect it is something to do with categories etc as somehow my main category got deleted (not by me!) and so I created it new and added all the other categories to it
I have tried different hierarchys and nothing makes it go back to how it was
Any ideas?
Re: Why is there a gap in the forum?
It can be two things. Either the forum just went into no mans land and corrupted itself, or it is the forum skin.
You will find that some forum skins do not maintain the correct CSS, thus the skin going all wierd (like yours).
To fix this problem, try asking around here for a code which you can then implement into your forums HTML to fix this. I am not a coder, however, so I cannot come up with one, sorry.
Hope I have helped

thank you , I will do!
Oddly I noticed if I click the link to my top level category it isn't there - the gap only appears when Home is clicked.

Because of what you did, I'm pretty sure everything is working as it should! That is, you've made your existing categories subsets of the new category so they are inset in the tree.
Go to this place in your AP. Click on the orange circle (the 'modify' icon) of each category.
- Spoiler:
Make the box blank where the arrow is pointing, for each category.
- Spoiler:
This will line up your cats under each other and eliminate the gap.
