Solved Online guardian closed, opened and reclosed my forum

Post by Zordon on September 3rd 2010, 3:27 pm

That was really crazy. If I did something wrong and put some anime and cartoons for download, that exist on other forums and they haven't closed them, why did they decided to open the forum again and then close it? I didn't make a single post when they reopened it. That's the forum http://rangersingreece.omgforum.net/
As you can see it's greek and it's about power rangers. There many forums around the net about them, all have links from megaupload and rapishare about it but none of them is closed. This for example http://powerrangers-greek.forumotion.net/
I know you can't do anything as you have said but it doesn't make sense what they do. I've seen some videos in youtube about Online guardian and some hackers there saying they hack forumotions forums with Online Guardian. I hope this is not true and the videos are fake.

Hi,

Just to confirm that Online Guardian is a service that Forumotion uses to delete forums that abuse there terms and conditions. Forums such that contain werez, porn, rapidshare links or hacking are not allowed and Online Guardian will delete.

Your forum must have contained certain articles that were against the Terms and conditions that you signed when you opened the forum.

I suggest that you read the forumotion terms of service where is tells you about which forums are illegal and will be deleted.

I see. So rapishare and megaupload are not allowed in forumotion. Why the second greek forum I told you is still open then? They have exactly the same links

Yes, mega upload and rapidshare links aren't allowed. The forum you sent is still open because its not been found as an illegal forum yet. I will submit the forum as an illegal forum.

Well I respect that, but you know it's a crazy rule. All the power rangers forums across the net have links of episodes of the series. And the company of the series allow this. Even actors are members of the forums. For example Rangerboard and Rangercrew. I also had some anime and cartoons for download, was that the problem? I mean in all boards those are allowed, why not here? You can't have a forum of Tokusatsu series, anime or cartoons whithout episodes for download. It will be dead from the beginning. About movies, music, videogames it's illegal to have links, I know. I didn't put.

Well for one thing onlinegurdian is afliated with inter-pool so i highly doubt that anyone from them would be hacking.. it would very stupid on there part. lol
http://www.onlineguardian.net/index.php?lg=en
http://www.interpol.int/public/icpo/default.asp

Now whats all this about forumotion dose not allow rapidshare or megaupload links... this is a big misconception. And a lot of people get mixed up with this the same way they used to get mixed up for haveing embedded youtube videos on a forumotion forum.

See the problem with file host and large file host such as megaupload and rapidshare.
Is the over 90% of what is being uploaded is illegal copyright infringements.. everything from software, video games, pornography, music, movies etc.. So when people see a lot of files being shared on a forums then it's only normal to assume that they are in violation.. and most places that are sharing large quantities of files are.But now befor onlinegurdian or forumotion shut someone down they first have to be sure that what is being shared is indeed breaking TOS or any international laws..

So with that being said it dose not mean people cant share other things that would not break any TOS or laws.. as long as it's in no violation forumotion can care less what people may be sharing on there forums..Don't break any laws or tos and your fine.

So it's not any particular file host that's being used.. it dont matter who the file host is. if you are sharing files that contain copyrighted materials or anything against forumotions TOS regardless of what file host it is then and only then it would be in violation.

And just for the record forumotion or onlinegurdian are not going to shut any place down without a good reason or major violations going on..And when it's onlinegurdian it is then in there hands and forumotion no longer has anything to do with it.

Why there is not a message or email warning first then? To say it's illegal that you have links of this, please remove it or we will close your forum. It's pity to lose thousands of posts or members for some links(of power rangers episodes for example). I wanted to make a forum similar to http://www.rangercrew.com/ or http://www.rangerboard.com/
for greek fans. They have the links of power rangers, super sentai, kamen rider for download. Most of them are TV encodes and are uploaded to rapidshare/megaupload. Disney, Saban, Toei know they have the links there and they agree with this. They help them making more fans and sell toys, dvds of episodes etc.
Why I can't have a forum like that in forumotion? Sorry but I don't see what's illegal about it if those companies accept it. And yes I had asked those forums if they allowed me to put the links. They told me, go on, spread the Power Rangers love. Putting links of anything else for sure is illegal.

Well all of this is in forumotions TOS.
i mean there are a lot of things that can be free for use then there are others that are copyrighted materials.. so you have to try to get an understanding on what to allow and what not to allow. You have to have good staff/moderators that understand this to.. i mean it's a moderators and admins job to know what is being shared in any file.. for all you know it can says it's one thing then ends up being another thats in violation.

And depending on what violations are taking place and how many complaints, reports or how much materials you may have on your forum..Sometimes forumotion will send you a warning message and give you a certain amount of time to remove content and stop continuing any violations so you do not lose your forum. But this is forumotions litigation's team decision to make that call.

So sure there are many many forums and websites that share copyrighted stuff all the time.. but sooner or latter someone will report it and they will be shut down..Some sites can be more difficult to do then others depending if it's some sort of company that may have certain permissions or rights for certain materials to be shared.. or if it's a site on someones own server that they own and run.

So there is a lot of different factors that can fall into play here.
Look at youtube.. day in and day out people are uploading copyrighted materials or inappropriate content.. it can be there for a year or more sometimes.. but as soon as someone flags it. then you tube will go in ,remove the content and depending on what the violation was.how much the persons account was doing it they will either give a warning or just delete the account all together.

So everyone has certain policies Facebook, myspace, twitter all of these sites have TOS.. and when people break the tos then they lose there accounts.

And remember you can contest the decision and or try to demand an answer from onlineguardian. But once again when onlineguardian step in . it no longer has anything to do with forumototion.. But i do know forumotion are not obligated to tell you why your forum was shut down or what materials were on there to cause this.. Because it's foruimotions host, they own it so they lay down there policies and rules.. but still have to obey by international laws as well.

So all i can suggest is that you try to contest this to onlineguardian and see if you can get some answers from that..That's about all you can do at this point.

Or just create another forum and be sure to keep up on it and do not let any violations take place.

Well I just made another Power Rangers forum without links, but members keep complaing about not having episodes in it. I don't care anymore about the old forum, I was trying to understand why it was down and was much more curious of seeing it return for 1-2 days, 3 days ago. I was about to make it to something else without any single episode but Online guardian closed it again before I could do it. Anyway I am not gonna risk the safety of my new power rangers forum so no more links in it of the episodes.

cant you find episodes on like YouTube or something like that and just have members embed them on the forum. i mean there are still ways to have a nice forum for what ever theme you may be.. you just have to make sure that no copyright infringements are happening.

Since i have answered about all i can, made some suggestions and explained a little more insight on the given inquiry.I will now mark this as solved and lock the thread.
