Bold?

Post by Hoops on September 6th 2010, 8:50 am

Half of the forum text is bold. the css is currently blank at the moment. Any suggestions on what to do?

Hi,

The first thing I'd bet to check is a user rank. Just check all your ranks that have been bolded have a </b> at the end of it Wink

The homepage message. It might be buggy, check it for <b> 's.

well this is an odd one?

Did you add or remove anything from the css or any codeing to templates or homepage that may be affecting this?

At first i thought it might be in the forums descriptions.. but dont think thats the case because you have the dates the same way in bold slit in half the same way.

So i am realy stumped. i would go through the logs and see if there is anything that another admin may have done by accident.

Or you can try restoring the theme back a couple days and see if that helps.
if not you can log into the forums utilities and back the forum up like a day befor you start noticing this happening?

That's all i can suggest for now .. like i said this is a lil odd?

the css is completely blank so idk if that would be affecting anything

I did check the forum descriptions and there is nothing like <b> or </b>

All that is in the logs for the past month is "Administration member logged in "

Typlo has yet to answer to my pm about the utilities issue...i don't have access to it.

I wonder if you have a template issue, did you go through and make sure they aren't <B> and </B> separating text that would show. I would also check your CSS, have you changed or added anything in there? In other words is it blank?

Have you changed the forums' default one? And did you possibly type that in in the admin panel? General>> Categories and Forums>> Edit the categories and forums and scroll down to the description and see if there is anything with a <B> and a</B> or [ b] or [/b]. BUT NO SPACES otherwise it turns into bolded font.

Could you go back to ur ranks admin, and confirm that the ranks do have the </b>, and especually clarify the <b>Official</b> once Wink

Also, do you remember adding any codes, or anything into the site description before the bold-ness occurred?

In addition, are you using phpbb2, or phpbb3?

yeah i was just wandering what version he is useing to.
if your useing phpbb2 or punnbb check all your templates just the ones you edited if any.

then i would go through and copy what ever you added to a note pad and delete the template.. when you delete it then it will go back to the default automatically and see if there is any change.

if thats even that case. if you never edited any templates or useing phpbb3 or invision then that will eliminate the possibility of that.

And why can you log in to utilities? i forgot to put the link up before is that what you need?

I'm on your source code and I see <b> tags. Weird. It's coming from your forum descriptions if that's what you mean by half the forum being bold. _._

Re: Bold?

Post by kirk on September 9th 2010, 6:56 pm

well you do not even need to have html in a forums description.
unless you were going to do font size, color or bold etc.. something you would need it for.You dont need it just to add plain text as a description. so if they are in the forums descriptions for the sections it is doing it on then thats what it is.

but that still dose not explain why the date's are like that?
thats the whole thing thats throwing me off.. i will have to go back and check it out on a couple different browsers to make sure it's like that on all of them too.

ok, I looked at your entire page source
(click)

The bold tag is apparently in...
"Graphic Design Section" description field
The source screen shot reveals a bold tag.
Also, fix your image Url's so they look like this...
Code:
<img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/Online.png"></img>
Notice: img tags in the source are red, showing an error.
