Export PunBB to PhpBB3. Empty Export PunBB to PhpBB3.

Post by Damen January 10th 2009, 1:15 am

One of my friends made a free forum here and I believe to format was PunBB. I was wondering if there is any option around the site or in his administration panel to where he can export the database, i.e. users and topics/thread, and I can convert where needed to import into an exsisting phpBB3 forum of mine?

Thanks for the help.

-Damen

-EDIT- Just found out you can change your version to be phpBB3 so then I wouldn't need to convert anything. Is there still any way to export his database?

What's the reason forummotion has this policy anyway? I'm starting to hate forummotion now and others have said the same but now i understand.

I will surely advise anyone NOT to use forummotion because of this. The way admins in this thread have handeled the discussion is very dissapointing:

https://help.forumotion.com/other-problems-f46/export-database-t11537.htm

Just locking a thread like that without giving any further arguments is total BS. This whole forum is full of people asking for export features and some even want to pay for it. So why the f not??

Define 'access'. By creating, editing and deleting posts and topics you are accessing the database constantly. Export is just a simple way to export all data to a simple csv file. Furthermore, the fact that it's free doesn't mean we are not allowed access? That logic fails.

And like i said earlier, there are people willing to pay for this. So just change this please, make a premium membership account or something. Or simply a paypal account and let me pay money and send me my data! It's so simple. Why don't they want to make money?

You're too rushed ! This can't be done overnight , such a system needs time to be integrated because is possible to appear many bugs ... and if the technicians will find this system useful , they will integrate them when they want ...

I understand that but they don't seem to make any effort on changing things. This was suggested in 2008 for crying out loud.

And i can bet you a million they could do a manual export if they wanted to right now after i have paid them, so why not give us that option?

Commercial people decide this, technicians implement and should tell commercial people what the community is requesting.

Forumotion owns all the rights to the database. There is no plans ever to give users access to the database. Please read this topic for anymore questions https://help.forumotion.com/juridical-tutorials-f40/forumotion-s-forum-databases-t6668.htm

I will now lock this topic.
