Should we have a wiki?
Forumotion Wiki
There should be an official Forumotion wiki. It has how-to articles that anyone could make and read. I would love to see and work on that wiki, and it would really benefit Forumotion. What do you think?
Re: Forumotion Wiki
I've never liked wikis, plus I don't see the benefit. Pretty much everything someone would want to do to their forum is posted in the FAQ or Tips & Tricks section.
Re: Forumotion Wiki
Well, anyone could add information to certain articles to bring its quality up to the highest extent.

Yeah, but powerful tools built in with MediaWiki like rollback could revert the bad edits/vandalism...
Re: Forumotion Wiki
sorry, voted no. The F.A.Q is better in my opinion

Re: Forumotion Wiki
Both are pretty much useless in my opinion, so their both the same lol.
We also currently have our own T&T, FAQ, Important info & rules sections here, do we not?
Why waste the time doing it to another site?

Re: Forumotion Wiki
Well, people could easily make guides without messaging an official and waiting for a response.
Re: Forumotion Wiki
Voting no for the reasons mentioned by other users.

Re: Forumotion Wiki
One weakness of the forumotion system is the poor search function. On the forum I admin, I'm watching tons of valuable information getting buried under new posts. We've experimented with a wiki to catalog informational posts, but it is just too time consuming. I voted yes, just to see how the 'pros' would do it!

But then it wouldn't be an offical tut, and it could be giving mis leading information .... wich wouldn't be good

There are Javascript tools out there that could prevent that.

Could prevent what? Wrong information?
That's like if I said "Jeremy Jay is a female" and I'd get "Jeremjay24 is a male". That's just not possible. You'd have to enter what to be replaced by what or something, meaning you'd have to know what the tut is about, meaning an official can already post it.

Re: Forumotion Wiki
Hell No
The principle of a wiki is that anyone can add modifications and basically publish what he wants... how he wants. In short, it creates extra work, and allows possible trolls to cause "damage".
If members have interesting things to propose, as seen many times over, they can always propose a Tutorial or a Tip to be posted in the dedicated sections

Isn't this support forum pretty much already a wiki? In my opinion, it is (in a way) so I will vote no.

Isn't that what the forum is for though? A wiki kinda defeats the purpose

Since we aren't going to make a Wiki page, the suggestion is declined.
