Using javascript, it's simple to change the wording of anything in the statistics area. But it's beyond the scope of this (free) board...

You don't need to really start a flame war here.

Hello, Krypt. Or is it Drag? Don't know, don't care. Very Happy

OK, I guess some demonstration of my 'skills' is in order. The following code, when put in the Site Description, will change the chatbox link text from "Join the Chat" to "Enter Chatbox":

Code:
<script>$(function() {if($('#chatbox_popup')[0]){$('#chatbox_popup a')[0].innerHTML='Enter Chatbox';}});</script>

This is by far the easiest text to change in the statistics box on an IPB2/Invision board, and I believe this code will work with all four board types. The remaining text is also simple to change, but as I said, it is beyond the scope of this (free) board.

Hi,

I would assume that you would put it in your Site Description.
Admin panel >> general > Forum/configuration > Site description.
Being Dion, the man of mystery, I could easily be wrong though Wink

Dion, I think it's Drag, but it could be both lol

Nothing mysterious about what I said:
The following code, when put in the Site Description, will change the chatbox link text from "Join the Chat" to "Enter Chatbox":
So you would assume correctly, which is pretty easy to do in this case. Razz

And as for the identity of StrongHold (whose avatar sometimes displays a link to a non-forumotion site, a no-no I've been told), as I said, don't know don't care...

Haha unless my avatar can code itself... every link that appears there is a bit.ly to the current page. If this isnt so... tell me!

(There were problems with the font visitor... bit.ly is case sensitive and visitor doesnt clearly display caps vs. non caps too well... that might have been the problem)

OK, you've been told. At times the link is to your (non-forumotion) site.

Actually I'm surprised forumotion allows PHP-generated images as avatars...

To the original poster...as I mentioned in my first post in this topic, what you request is beyond the scope of this (free) forum.

The easiest way is to buy your own domain, and use one of the many available public-domain PHP scripts that generate images.

The reason I'm surprised forumotion allows linked PHP images as avatars is twofold. One, such an image can put advertisements on this board, and the only way to remove the advertising is to remove the image itself. But more insidious, and the reason I suspect the image is being used here, is because the IP addess of EVERY PERSON who views a PHP-based image is logged by the owner of the domain where the image is generated. In this specific case, StrongHold is getting the IP addresses of every person who views their avatar.

forumotion can stop this by not allowing linked avatars with extensions other than .gif, .jpg, or .png.

@Dion: Good guess, but I am hosting his PHP Files, and I can tell you that I told him to only display they're IP. If I were to want to log IP addresses, I would have it log without displaying it...

On top of that, the "Site: bit.ly" thing links to the current page the viewer is on. So, that doesn't go off to a magical, and unknown page. Nor is it advertisement. So no rules are broken. If there is a rule broken, then tell me where to reed that.

Just to add to the above... it was hand coded Laughing No public-domain PHP scripts here.

I'll take your word that you're not logging the IP addesses, but that wasn't my point. My point was that IP addresses CAN be logged.

Like I said above, the avatar DID link to your (non-forumotion) site on a random basis. Again, I'll take your word that it no longer does so.

StrongHold wrote:Just to add to the above... it was hand coded Laughing No public-domain PHP scripts here.
A broken record here...I said the easiest way to get a PHP-based avatar is to use one of the many available public-domain scripts. I'll take your word that you hand-coded it, but honestly, it doesn't matter to me whether you did or not...
