Solved I have edited the forumotion footer...

Post by Neoroify September 28th 2010, 3:21 pm

Greetings, I've attempted to edit forumotion footer from this format:
Free forums | © PunBB | Free forum support | Contact | Report an abuse

To this format:
Powered by Forumotion | © PunBB | Forumotion Support | Statistics | Contact | Report an abuse

Is it still not allowed? Tho it still says, shows and confirms that it's powered by Forumotion and links to the webpage of it.

You can check my forum, IT'S STILL in constructing level, I've just created it and making few edits of it. http://forum.neoroify.eu/

Regards,
Moustafa

You can edit the footer but there has to be at least one link to forumotion and one link to PubBB.

Well, for my opinion, that still breaks the Forumotions TOS, you edited it so that breaks the TOS already, even if you retain some links there, still, you edited it :/ That's just my opinion though.

Hi,

Incorrect. All links to forumotion & default links must remain there.

I'd consider it to be allowed because he's just re-ordering the links, not actually removing them lol.

My point of view is the reason why i changed the footer, Having two.. or even three links redirecting to forum otion I DONT MIND! But quoted as "free forums" and "free forums support" and "free forum" doesn't look professional, That's why i intend to change them to "Powered by Forumotin", "Forumotion Support" and that's all.

I say don't do it. Just leave it. You could also just get a wibya tool bar that would cover it, or you could just make one like that right above it.

I don't think you're supposed to touch it at all, this convorsations happened many times and although everyone should know by now that you can't remove the footer what most dont know is you take a big gamble even with editing it at all even if the links stay the same just the words change.

oh boy this has always been a big misconception.

As Darren said. all links leading to forumotion.. like free forums, forums support, phpbb has to remain.. if it is something that is going back to forumotion then they must remain.

now if you wanted to you can take out contact, report abuse or statistics.

the report abuse goes to the forums founder/admins.. so it would be in your best interest to leave that there incase someone reports something then you will get it first and be able to take care of any problems yourself instead of someone reporting it to forumotions litigation's and haveing them deal with it.

that being said you can also add anything else you would like to it. if you have a website and would like to add that to your footer thats fine. you can add anything else in your footer you wish so long as it is not leading to anything that would be in violation of forumotions tos.

so once again you can edit the footer how you want..but all links leading back to forumotion must remain. if any of those are removed then and only then are you in violation. you can rearrange them, make the blink, have it scroll add color, glitter lol etc... as long as the forumotion links are in there then your fine Smile

oh and you can not add your own fake copyright mark.. if your adding a copyright mark. you better make sure it is real and legit or you can lose your forum for fabricating a false copyright mark on something that is not copy written
