Permisions Gagle

Ok I have a complex set up going on and the permisions are not working how I want them to or I don't know how to set them up so they work properly.

I have Two different groups using our forum. The Forum looks like this.


Main area

Group 1 Member area
Group 1 Leaders

Group 2 Member Area
Group 2 Leaders


The problem I am having is I don't want group 1 members to see group 2 Member and leaders or group one leaders and I don't want group 2 members to see group 1 Member and leader nor group 2 leader

They both are allowed to see main area cause they can chat there.

It is jumbling up for me because each member is part of a subgroup also that both group 1 and group 2 share....for exampe a member could be part of a group called Miners there are miners in group 1 and 2.


What I did is create two permision groups Group 1 and Group 2 but it is not working. Any ideas?

what takes priority forums permisions or permisions set in group area?

Do you have a members group as well?

I have numerous groups. The members group is default group they are put in when they register on the forums but I have others they are put in depending on what they are.

PS sorry for the double post did not know about that rule.

PS2 still need to know what permissions are dominant. If I set a forum to not allow a group but then go into the group and say allow what does that do. Which one wins out?

the best way to set your permissions is go to the forums one by one set set the permissions for all groups accordingly, then hit save and move on to the next forum and set them accordingly and so on.

when you click on the forums permissions you will see all the groups in a list.
so you just go through them and set every thing how you want.. and be sure to hit save.

Sometimes i wish i could just go and do it for them, this seems like a 2-5 minute job

Go to the forum in ACP mode and access the permissions control, you will then be able to select who can see the forum =]

Adam360 I am sorry I am not a guru yet like you. I just started learning this stuff. I don't ask people to do it for me I ask people to show me so I can learn and do it. I ask a lot of questions that is how I learn. . Either way questions answered.
