Dion, Mark, That may be a script from VB, however ForumActif, as a whole, as permission to do so, I also believe there's been some script modification (Ive never seen this script on VB, though I haven't seen much VB Scripts) so it's perfect for FM.

Basically, this is the new modern quick reply, and extended reply boxes, and hopefully should be the last of the reply boxes' script changes, I believe that this is the best so far Smile

Research & Development team did good again Wink

What kind of comment is this?
Are you sure? Shocked Are you the chairman of vBulletin Solutions Inc? You talk as if you are the owner of vB software Rolling Eyes

@Master Marc wrote:You can have knowledge in HTML, CSS & JavaScript, but if you don't know how to optimize your web page, then it can affect how search engine bots crawl your website. ( example : using messy scripts by modifying the templates )

As I have already said, it is difficult for only those who are poor at coding and have very little knowledge of SEO. Btw, we are talking about the look of the forum, SEO is completely different thing.

Those who are poor coders, will mess up the scripts and bots will not crawl through their site, but it won't happen if you do proper coding Wink (if you know proper coding Razz)

Dion is right, we don't even need templates to do the tricks, knowledge of JS and CSS is enough and he has proved it. Mark, learn more about coding and you will know how to make things work with lesser resources Wink

No, but I've seen comments and what they've done to people that used null versions of their software. And, vBulletin is a copyrighted name, so by adding an option, that users can create a free vBulletin board, you're saying that they don't need to purchase a vB license to use this software, and worst is that it's free ( even if you're not using the real vB files ) . vBulletin Solutions Inc wouldn't like that because it's against their license agreement.

I know a few JavaScript experts from the Internet, that doesn't even know how to optimize their websites and files ( they create scripts for money online ) . If you're using a proper script with no errors, within the content of the page, without optimizing the script, then search engine bots can have a hard time reading the content.

@ankillien wrote:Dion is right, we don't even need templates to do the tricks, knowledge of JS and CSS is enough and he has proved it. Mark, learn more about coding and you will know how to make things work with lesser resources Wink
What are you talking about? My conclusion states that forumotion can't add vBulletin as a list of options to choose from. It's against their license agreement & vBulletin Solutions Inc would take action, because a free host that offers users to create a vBulletin forum would get very popular and would be noticed immediately. Go to vBulletin's support forum & ask a question, Wink

Edited

Wait, do you understand what I'm trying to say? Forumotion can't add vB to their list of options. You can make a copy of the appearance of a vBulletin forum, because you have template modification ( which can even make a forum look nothing like a forum ) to add in extra classes & ids. ( I don't know if they allow you to edit every template of a forumotion forum )

@ankillien wrote:Dion is right, we don't even need templates to do the tricks, knowledge of JS and CSS is enough and he has proved it. Mark, learn more about coding and you will know how to make things work with lesser resources Wink
What? JavaScript? lol. I see a lot of optimizing errors if you're using scripts to make the appearance change without editing the templates.

And, what are you trying to say, "learn more about coding"? I've created a vBulletin page from scratch ( not style ), I've fixed optimizing errors I've found on vBulletin version 4.0.6 & vB 4.0.7 that hasn't been fixed yet and I'm currently learning how to create my own mods to install on my vBulletin board. ( and maybe to sell in the future )

Thats what I have been saying since beginning Razz I voted 'No' since we can already make our forums look like vB. Did you notice that I have voted no? Razz

Also, adding scripts to a page won't prevent search bots at all, if properly added. And yeah. seo is not all about managing a page, it has many things to do outside the page so... don't be afraid to add javascripts to your page. Wink

And, I'll say this one more time! We are talking about the looks of the forum, avoid bringing the SOE issue here since it has nothing to do with what we are talking about. We are just saying that we can make our forums look like vB with html, css and js. We don't need search engines for that Wink So, be on topic and put the SEO issue aside for now Razz If you want to talk about SEO create another topic Razz

What I do like a lot about vBulletin is the possibility to see a posts edit history ( only if it's your post or if you're moderator) and the ability to see deleted posts if you're moderator. Also, the moderation option to merge a post with another is cool.

Forumotion only adds the structure of a version, not the features.
