Regarding Basket option & Thanks feature questions. Empty Regarding Basket option & Thanks feature questions.

Just a few questions that are bugging me:

I just recently helped out a friend on his forum, which he used this site to make a free one. So after checking out all the stuff these forums can do, I was deciding on making my own, but I have some questions regarding a few things that I just couldn't figure out.

1) I understand how the Basket works, but my question is this: can I somehow delete single posts from a thread to the section I have Basket'd? I know it can move the whole thread to the Basket'd area of my choice, but I'd like to know if there is anyway that when I click on the 'delete' button (not the Basket button!) can I send that deleted reply to my Basket'd area? Yes/no? Because I wont like deleting any messages and I'd rather just somehow get them into my Basket'd area instead. I know I can do the whole split feature and just split the reply/replies and move it into my Basket'd section, but I wonder if I could do it the first way I said above.

2) This is regarding the Thanks feature. I enabled the feature on my buddies forum, but when I read posts/threads of other people, it wouldn't let me thank them. I could thank the poster, but when I made my own thread, my buddy couldn't see the 'Thanks' button to thank me for the thread I made (even though it was only a test thread, but you know what I mean). Then he made a reply to the thread, and when I refreshed the page, I could thank his post for some odd reason. I don't want to thank the posters to my threads; I want the posters to press the 'Thanks' button on a thread I start or if another person starts one.

Well, that's about it. Hope they're not too complicated to answer, as I don't think they are. I just wanted some answers or try to get some if I could on those so I can clear those up from my mind. Thanks in advance!

Oh, well then, all right, thanks for the help.

Also, one more question: on my friends forum, the registration date also says it how it says on here: 2010-10-12 (YY/MM/DD) -- I don't like it like that. Can I change those settings when I make my own forum to MM/DD/YY and to show in the registration date section (so say I make my forum today, and it says I joined up on 2010-10-12, but I want it to say joined up on 10-12-2010)?

All right, thanks. Smile

Lol One more question that I forgot to add: when I used my friends Admin account (account that comes with making your forum) it kept on saying he was logged in under 'Hidden' because it says 1 member Hidden and that was clearly him. How can you not log in Hidden and show that you're on to the other members on your forum? Is there a way to disable that feature or to prevent it from happening?

Hi,

You can change your hidden status via the Profile > Preferences >Set account to hidden = No.

I think it would be possible to remove the option via templates on PunBB or PHPBB2.

Cool, thanks, I'll keep it in mind. But isn't there a big option in the admin panel to completely disable this option? I wouldn't want my members to log in hidden. If you're not going to log in and show yourself, no point in logging in the first place.

Edit: Also, how could I implement a warning system on my forum like one on here? Is it too complicated to add one or is fairly difficult/easy?

Oh, cool, that will help me a lot. And could you answer my other question if possible:

Darn. So then is there an option I can disable/enable to allow me, the Administrator of my forum (soon), and my moderators, and other staff to be able to see users who decide to go hidden? I'm sure there is some type of option like that. I hope there is.

General // Forum // Security // Allow moderators to see the hidden users // Yes

Thank you! That's what I wanted to hear (well... read, I guess lol). So now if I enable that option, me, the Administrator of the site, my moderators, staff, etc., can see all the hidden users?

Also, when I joined up on this site, and I went under my Profile > Preferences > Hide Your Online Status: No - was disabled by default; that's how I'd like it on my forum (print screen: Regarding Basket option & Thanks feature questions. 167nn88). My friends forum didn't have this feature enabled for his members. When I looked at 20 different members, new or even been there for years, their profile Hide Your Online Status option was bubbled in 'Yes.'

So when people sign up to my forum I don't want this feature enabled when they sign up. They can enable it later on when they figure out how to, fine by me, but I want them to start out with the feature on 'No' -- how can I put the option on 'No' through the Admin Panel like it is here on this site?

Your friend may have enabled the Yes option For "Hide your online status" in their forum, perhaps by accident.

You may find that your default is already set at No. To find out if this is so go to your Admin Panel>Users & Groups>Users>Search Users & check if the No option is the default by clicking on a member's name & scrolling down to the Preferences & see which option is checked for the "Hide your online status".

The No option is the default "Hide your online status" for my forum & no one has, as yet, checked Yes. If they did, I believe I might ask them why they wished to be hidden.

Yeah, then I guess his account must have been chosen to be hidden because at times I guess he doesn't want his members to know he's on or something. And so there is no big admin control panel option to disable the hidden option at all? Darn. Ah well, as long as I get to see the hidden members, and my soon-to-be staff as well, then all is good. As long as I get to see them, even though I can't disable. I can always manually go to their profile and just disable it as well, but that'd probably cause some problems.

Sorry for the question to question stuff and not grouping all together, but my mind keeps thinking of them as I go along. I do have a question that I was quite confused about: I read up how to add a warning system that Sanket posted above, and I wondered what the 'Replace content' button is meant to do. I mean, it says it in the name, but what's it do? What exactly does it restore to default? And if I use it once, I can't press the button again or it disappears or something? Also, must I press that each time I add a new tab to the 'Profile' section in the Users & Groups area?
