Issue with ISP & IWF with forum Empty Issue with ISP & IWF with forum

Post by Ratware October 16th 2010, 1:12 pm

Hi,

I have issues posting to our forum, and after investigation with my ISP (PlusNET), it seems forummotion have fallen foul of IWF, which my ISP uses to block inappropriate images.

Please can you investigate why forummotion have an issue with IWF - http://www.iwf.org.uk/

Also you have an issue here: http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?name=imgfast.net

Thanks

Bump...

Hi,

Would be nice if an admin looks into this, as it is a serious security issue.

Thanks

Can you explain what IWF is?
It seems like the problem is with the image host?
So i would go with a different image host, and if you have images blocked from your computer then that is on your end. there is no way to block or prevent someone from posting an image on your form unless you block links from a certain image host in your word censor options, and even doing this will not block earthing all the time.. so that's what you and your moderators are for.
If you see inappropriate images on your forum then remove them and issue warnings or bans to the members posting them..

Thank you for your reply.

The issue is not with me or anyone posting images.

It is when I send a post to the forum, my ISP every now and then blocks it due to images already on the page or linked via the page.

The block is by a system they employ (IWF - see http://www.iwf.org.uk/ ).

At the moment, the problem has gone away, so I can't post a sample reply for you to see. But I will try and supply you with one when I can.

I don't think we have any images hosted by a site which are blocked.

To clarify IWF, if someone reports child pornography on a forumotion site IWF will blacklist Forumotion as a whole , If this happens UK based ISP's will block all Forumotion from use by there customers, This actually happened to wikipedia at the beginning of the year but when offending material was removed the blacklist was removed, I'm with O2 who also tie in with IWF but as yet no issues for me
